Saturday NBA Betting Tips
—
Philadelphia 76ers vs Atlanta Hawks @ State Farm Arena
The 76ers have lost consecutive games to the Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics, so they’re looking to get back to winning form.
They still have an impressive 8-3 record, and NBA MVP Joel Embiid is playing at a high level, so things are going well.
Atlanta is 6-5 following a loss to New York, and as usual with the Hawks, consistency has been the problem throughout their year.
There isn’t much maturity on the Hawks roster, and with Trae Young averaging only 23.5 points, it’s not quite good enough to be competitive in the Eastern Conference.
Bookmakers have the Hawks at $1.86, so we’re taking the much better odds with the 76ers at $1.98, which is much better than we thought we would get.
Bet: Philadelphia 76ers @ $1.98
Boston Celtics vs Toronto Raptors @ Scotiabank Arena
The Boston Celtics look like the best team in the NBA, and their 9-2 record attests to that.
They have rattled off four consecutive wins over the Nets, Raptors, Knicks, and 76ers. Having already beaten the Raptors recently bodes well, and it was a one-sided 117-94 result.
Toronto has looked good at times, especially when beating San Antonio and Dallas in consecutive games last week. However, the Raptors are lacking the killer punch, and that’s what separates them from the likes of Boston.
We have been impressed with Pascal Siakam, who is stepping up when he needs to. The Raptors need him to play at his very best to beat the best in the conference.
The sportsbook has the Celtics at $1.43 in head-to-head markets and –5.5. We’re happy to take them at –5.5, as they have enough scoring talent to put up a big number on their rivals.
Bet: Boston Celtics –5.5 @ $1.90
Denver Nuggets vs New Orleans Pelicans @ Smoothie King Centre
We’re not surprised to see the Denver Nuggets favoured to beat the New Orleans Pelicans, despite playing on the road.
The defending NBA champions have picked up where they left off, which isn’t easy to do. Going 9-2 through the first 11 games is impressive because most teams get a championship hangover, but this team is built for success.
With four wins from their last five games, the Nuggets are playing well, and they’re the –4.5 favourites against the Pelicans.
New Orleans ended a string of losses with a 131-110 win over Dallas. It was a good bounce back effort, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
However, they’re not playing well enough to beat the best teams in the NBA, and Denver tops that list. We’re not confident in backing the home side, so take Denver to prevail.
Bet: Denver Nuggets –4.5 @ $1.90
