San Antonio Spurs vs. Philadelphia 76ers @ Wells Fargo Centre

The San Antonio Spurs might be 5-10 on the season, but they’re a decent team and shouldn’t be disrespected.

They come into Philadelphia with five consecutive losses but four of those were decided by seven points or less.

If Demar Derozan can increase his scoring average from 21.7 per game to around 25, they’ll have a much better chance of winning consistently.

On the other side of the coin, the 76ers have been solid this season without setting the court alight. Joel Embiid leads the team in scoring with 22.9 and that’s good from the big man.

At 9-5 (5-0 at home), Philadelphia appears to be travelling well in the early stages of the season, but there will be problems. With Embiid and Ben Simmons being power forwards, they lack the three-point shooting they once had.

It’s tough to win in the NBA without legitimate three-point shooters. It’s easier in the west, where they play a more traditional style, but they could struggle against western conference teams.

That’s where the Spurs have a chance to win this game and we don’t think there will be much between them.

Bookmakers have the 76ers as $1.34 favourites and they’re -6.5 in the betting. Go the other way and take the Spurs with the points.

Boston Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets @ Pepsi Centre

What a juicy matchup this is for NBA fans as the 11-3 Celtics head to the Pepsi Centre to face the 10-3 Nuggets.

Boston comes into this game having lost a thriller in overtime to the LA Clippers on Thursday. It was a game they probably should have won, but one player was extremely poor.

Kemba Walker had one of his worst performances to date. Every time he drove the ball, he either committed a turnover or produce a junk shot.

Walker, the big signing for the Celtics, will need to produce a much better effort if Boston are going to win on the road in Denver.

It was a better outcome for the Denver Nuggets on Thursday. They scored a terrific 105-95 win over the Houston Rockets and that made it three consecutive victories.

The season hasn’t been without its flaws. They lost to Atlanta last week and have dropped two games at home already, but don’t expect that number to rise too much.

Home court advantage is a real thing for this Nuggets team and we’re confident they’ll be in prime condition for this game.

Bookmakers have the Nuggets as $1.65 favourites, with Boston at $2.18. We see value in both teams, but we’re picking Denver to be too good and too consistent for a streaky Celtics team.

Tip: Denver Nuggets to win @ $1.65 – Bet Now

Houston Rockets vs. LA Clippers @ STAPLES Centre

These teams have only nine losses between as the 11-4 Rockets face the 10-5 Clippers on Saturday afternoon.

The Clippers hold a significant advantage at home with a 9-1 record and they’re coming off a gritty victory against the Boston Celtics.

Kawhi Leonard didn’t have his best game on the stats sheet, but he made some key defensive plays over the final minutes.

That’s going to be a theme for this Clippers side, which isn’t flashy, but they do all the little things well.

The same can’t be said for the Rockets. They are flashy and horrible on defense, so playing teams like the Clippers will give them tough matchups.

Of course, having James Harden helps. The former MVP is averaging 38.4 points per game and averaging 40 points per game at the end of the season isn’t out of reach.

Teammate Russell Westbrook is struggling in this system, however. He’s a player that needs the defense to part in the middle so he can drive to the hoop, but Houston isn’t a driving team.

They draw the offense to the perimeter and that leaves Westbrook taking jump shots all day long. That’s not his strength and it will ultimately hurt this Rockets team.

Clippers are currently the $1.80 favourites and that’s a value price.

Tip: LA Clippers to win @ $1.90 – Bet Now
