NBA Betting Tips

New York Knicks vs Orlando Magic @ Amway Centre

It was hard not to be impressed with the New York Knicks in their opening night win over the Boston Celtics.

It went to double overtime, where the Knicks prevailed 138-134 in a torrid affair. Players were off their feet in the concluding stages, but the win should give the Knicks plenty of momentum.

They were down by double digits at one stage, but they knuckled down and gave the Madison Square Garden crowd something to cheer.

It was a different story for the Orlando Magic, who are likely to go through the motions this season. Expectations couldn’t be lower, and after starting with a 123-97 loss against San Antonio, there’s not much to get excited about.

Playing on the road after a gut busting win won’t be easy, but this Knicks outfit is packed with quality players, and they should have too much class for the Magic.

Brooklyn Nets vs Philadelphia 76ers @ Wells Fargo Centre

The Nets are the current NBA Championship favourites, but they didn’t get their season off to an impressive start.

Playing the Milwaukee Bucks on the road wasn’t an easy first game, but they miss Kyrie Irving. They scored only 104 points with James Harden and Kevin Durant on the floor, which isn’t enough for this high-scoring roster.

It’s a concern in the early stages of the season, but they have a chance to improve to 1-1 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. The 76ers won their opening game against New Orleans, and returning home is always a positive.

They are one of the best home teams in the NBA, but with Ben Simmons proving to be a distraction, we’re not sure they’re the pick.

Brooklyn should be better this time around, and bookmakers have it as –1 favourites. That’s a fair line, and we expect money to come for Brooklyn throughout the week.

There are just too many unknowns with Philadelphia to back it with confidence.

San Antonio Spurs vs Denver Nuggets @ Ball Arena

The Spurs and Nuggets got their seasons off to a winning start. San Antonio defeated Orlando by 26 points and Denver battled past Phoenix 110-98.

It was a comprehensive performance from the Nuggets, who were the underdogs on the road. They looked good, and Nikola Jokic could be in for another successful campaign.

San Antonio has mixed expectations this season, but winning its first game at home is a good starting point. The Spurs come off consecutive seasons when missing the playoffs, which won’t please head coach Gregg Popovich.

Their roster isn’t the best, so we think they’ll struggle to beat Denver at home. The Nuggets are always tough to beat at home, as they showed last season.

We think the Nuggets will continue to get stronger, and they could be a major contender in the Western Conference.

Bookmakers will have the Nuggets at around $1.45, and that’s a fair quote. They are the better team in this matchup, so we’re prepared to take whatever points spread line bookmakers offer.
