Tuesday NBA Betting Tips
—
Boston Celtics vs Washington Wizards @ Capital One Arena
The Celtics are equal favourites to win the NBA Championship, and they have started red hot.
They are 2-0 after beating New York and Miami, which are two quality Eastern Conference wins, and it holds them in good stead against Washington.
Jayson Tatum has started hot with 28 points per game, and with the addition of Justin Holiday, it adds another level of talent to their roster.
Washington comes off a win against the struggling Grizzlies, which should give it some confidence going forward.
The best Wizards players have been traded away, so they’re not expected to compete at a high level this season. However, they’re good enough to pick up the odd win against teams like the Celtics.
Bookmakers have the line at 10.5, which makes it tough for the Celtics to cover. We’re happy to take the Wizards with the double-digit line at home.
Bet: Washington Wizards +10.5 @ $1.81
Dallas Mavericks vs Memphis Grizzlies @ FedEx Forum
We are surprised by the odds for this game, which has the Mavericks at $1.71.
We thought bookmakers would have the visitors at a much shorter price, given the struggles of the Grizzlies, so punters get value odds.
Dallas is 2-0 after beating San Antonio and Brooklyn. The level of opposition was only fair, but they did well to comeback against the Spurs, who had plenty of fan support behind them.
Luka Doncic has been outstanding with 41 points per game, but he’s had to be. Kyrie Irving has been solid, but the Mavericks don’t have much else in the way of scoring.
Memphis is still without Ja Morant and Steven Adams is out for the season. That has led to an 0-3 start, and we don’t see that improving anytime soon.
Take Dallas to win comfortably at the value odds.
Bet: Dallas Mavericks @ $1.71
Golden State Warriors vs New Orleans Pelicans @ Smoothie King Centre
The Warriors have made a solid start to their season, coming off a win against Sacramento in fine style.
It was a key win for this team, who welcomed Chris Paul to the roster. Paul has yet to win an NBA Championship, but with Draymond Green sitting out, he’s invaluable.
It was a good bounce-back win after losing to Phoenix, but with Steph Curry heating up, it could spell danger for the unbeaten New Orleans Pelicans.
The Pelicans defeated Memphis and New York, and their defence showed up when limiting the Knicks to just 87 points.
We don’t think they’ll limit the Warriors to under 100 points, so they’ll need to find scoring from the likes of Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas.
The Pelicans are a sizable team, especially compared to the Warriors, which could have a big impact on this game. Scoring in the paint won’t be hard, but defending the sharp shooters will be.
We’re leaning towards the Pelicans, who should be at value odds.
Bet: New Orleans Pelicans
