Toronto Raptors vs. Boston Celtics Game 5
The Boston Celtics were a half-second from being 3-0 up in the series last week, but a late shot and a Game 4 loss has squared the series.
Many critics had penciled in the Celtics as winners of this series, but overlooking the chances of the defending champions is never wise.
Toronto is showing why they were a formidable team throughout the regular season. Just when it looked like they were down and out, they now have all the momentum heading into Game 5.
Boston had every chance to win Game 4 and go up 3-1, but they allowed Toronto to shot wide-open three pointers. The Celtics also missed their fair share of open shots, so they will feel like the game got away from them.
Despite losing their last two games, Boston looks under control. Some teams could unravel after being so close to wrapping up the series, but there is a sense of calm around this Boston side. They didn’t look rattled, and they know they only need to improve slightly to take the final two games of this series.
For the second time in this series, Boston will start as favourites. They won as underdogs in the first two games before being bet in from $1.90 to $1.70 for Game 4.
We are not surprised to see support for Boston on Tuesday, and we have them winning in a close contest. Toronto has done well to get this series back to 2-2, but we haven’t been impressed by their play overall.
If the Celtics play slightly better defense, expect them to run away with this game in the fourth quarter. They are currently $1.85 to win, but those odds could firm to around $1.75 on game day.

Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Clippers Game 3
We expected the Nuggets to come firing out of the gates in Game 1 and they didn’t. However, they showed why they have the ability to cause an upset in this series by taking Game 2.
The Denver Nuggets came through a tough series against the Utah Jazz and that might have played a part in their fatigue for the opening game. But there was no such fatigue when winning 110-101 on Sunday to set up a quality Game 3.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray did their thing, which proved too much for the Clippers. However, they stood out most notably on the defensive end, keeping the Clippers to only 101 points. That is 19 points less from Game 1, and the Clippers had scored totals of 133, 154, and 111, prior to that loss.
Momentum is now with the Nuggets, but they are a team that can be hard to trust. Back-to-back wins isn’t their forte and most punters aren’t expecting the Clippers to perform that badly again.
The Clippers are still the favourites to win the NBA this season, and they are getting the utmost respect from bookmakers for Game 3. Los Angeles are the nine-point favourites, which would be an 18-point turnaround on Sunday’s loss.
We don’t think the Nuggets are nine points worse than the Clippers, and they showed that in Game 2. They won 46 games during the regular season, compared to 49 from the Clippers, so there isn’t much between these two sides.
If Jokic can establish his presence in the paint, that will leave Murray open on the outside. It’s a formula that works for Denver and the Clippers defense will need to stand up.
The Clippers should win this game, but we are happy to take the points on offer in what should be a close contest.
