NBL Round 19 Predictions
—
Friday 9/2/24
5:30pm New Zealand Breakers vs Illawarra Hawks @ Spark Arena
The Breakers are on the outside looking in, but they have the advantage of having played less games than most teams.
We thought they would be shorter with betting markets against the Hawks. They are $1.68 favourites, and we’re happy to take those odds.
The Breakers are always tough to beat at Spark Arena, and they have one of the most talented teams in the NBL.
Betting tip: New Zealand Breakers @ $1.68

7:30pm Brisbane Bullets vs Adelaide 36ers @ Nissan Arena
Brisbane has a one-game advantage over the 36ers, and that could play a big part of this game.
They have less pressure on them, and the 36ers haven’t handled pressure well over the last few years, so we’re picking Brisbane to win.
The Bullets have been playing well enough to win and playing at home helps. They are paying $1.72 to win, which is worth snapping up.
Betting tip: Brisbane Bullets @ $1.72

Saturday 10/2/24
5:30pm S.E. Melbourne Phoenix vs Tasmania JackJumpers @ John Cain Arena
The Phoenix have imploded mightily this season, so we must take the JackJumpers to win on Saturday.
NBL betting markets have the visitors at $1.17 to win, so they’re heavy favourites to make their way up the NBL ladder.
We’re not entirely sure what has gone wrong with the Phoenix, but even playing at home isn’t enough to turn their year around.
The betting spread is 10.5 points, which isn’t an easy cover, but the Phoenix have already shut up shop.
Betting tip: Tasmania JackJumpers –10.5 @ $1.90
JackJumpers by 13
8:00pm Perth Wildcats vs Cairns Taipans @ RAC Arena
The Wildcats were soundly beaten by the New Zealand Breakers last week, but they should bounce back against the struggling Taipans.
Playing at RAC Arena is usually a massive boost for Perth, which is the current $1.22 favourite, and that’s not surprising.
With the playoffs getting very close, the Wildcats should be keen to play well, so a win over the Taipans is likely.
The spread is –8.5, so it’s not an easy cover, but Bryce Cotton and the Wildcats should get it done.
Betting tip: Perth Wildcats –8.5 @ $1.90

Sunday 11/2/24
2:00pm Melbourne United vs New Zealand Breakers @ John Cain Arena
The odds for this game will depend on how the Breakers play on Friday night, but we’re backing them regardless.
It has always been tough for United to beat the Breakers, who should be underdogs regardless of their previous result.
United leads the NBL with 18 wins and seven losses, so they’re tough to beat. However, the Breakers desperately need the win.
Betting tip: New Zealand Breakers

4:00pm Sydney Kings vs Illawarra Hawks @ Qudos Bank Arena
The Kings have continued to slip down the NBL rankings, but we’re picking them to beat the Hawks.
With their backs against the wall, the Kings need to start showing something before the playoffs, should they make it.
We expect bookmakers to have them around $1.60, which is worth taking.
Betting tip: Sydney Kings
