State of Origin continues with Game 2 on Wednesday, June 17 at 8:05pm at the MCG in Melbourne.
We have our best State of Origin Game 2 predictions for the big game, where Queensland looks to bounce back after a heartbreaking Game 1 loss in Sydney.
Best Bet
We think it’s fair to say that Queensland was the better team in Game 1 despite losing in the final minute of the game. Kalyn Ponga’s send-off was a critical moment, but up until that happened, the Maroons were dominating in every aspect of the game.
They had stifled the attack of the Blues, including Man of the Match Nathan Cleary, who only came alive when Ponga went to the bin. Had the Maroons been at full strength, they would have won by 12+ points easily.
However, we look towards Game 2, where we are confident of a Maroons bounce back. They have a 6-3 record in their last nine games following a loss, and playing in Melbourne is essentially a home game for many of the Maroons players.
Based on how dominant they were in Game 1, we expect bookmakers to have Queensland at $1.80 to win. They love being underdogs, and we see no reason why they shouldn’t tie the series at 1-1.
Jump on the $2.07 odds before money comes for the Maroons. We expect them to shorten to around $1.97 throughout the week.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow scored a try in Game 1, so we’re sticking with him. He might have partly cost the Maroons the win after failing to catch the kick in the dying moments, but we’re not putting too much blame on him. He’s in excellent try-scoring form, and the $2.25 is a great price.
Selwyn Cobbo was the best player on the field in Sydney. He didn’t score a try, but he did just about everything else. His scoring form for the Dolphins could carry over to State of Origin for Game 2, and he’s the $2.20 favourite for a Maroons player to score.
They combined for 42 points in Game 1, and it could be a back-and-forth contest. They have good defences, but our final score has the Maroons winning 28-20.
Best Value Bet
If the Maroons had won Game 1, Sam Walker would have likely won Man of the Match.
It was a tough loss for punters who took him at $10, but if he has a similar game on Wednesday, he could win in Game 2.
Walker doesn’t lack confidence, and he bounced back with a big performance for the Roosters last week. He is Queensland’s primary ball handler, and if he sets up a couple of tries, he could get the nod from judges.
