Between the GoBet team, we’ve been testing Australian betting sites since 2005 – from both sides. Our team have worked at major Australian bookmakers like TAB, Sportsbet, Bet365 and William Hill before launching GoBet in 2015.
We know which bookmakers are worth your time and the ones that aren’t. This page shortlists our top-rated betting sites from the 180+ we’ve personally used ourselves.
Our top-rated betting sites in May 2026 are Picklebet, Betr, Bet365, Neds, Dabble, NextBet and EliteBet. You’ll find our methodology on how we came up with these rankings further down the page.

GoBet’s Full List of Recommended Australian Betting Sites

If you’re looking for the best online horse racing and sports betting sites in Australia, GoBet’s team of expert punters, analysts and traders are here to help you find them.
As of May 2026, there are 260+ past and present online and on-course bookmakers in Australia, and here at GoBet, we’ve reviewed all of them to give you all the information you need, so you can ensure you’re getting the best possible betting experience.
All of the Australian betting sites on our GoBet-recommended list have been personally vetted through every stage of the betting process – from signing up and depositing money, to placing a bet and withdrawing your winnings.
Between the GoBet team, we’ve held accounts at every online Australian bookmaker over our betting careers. We’ve been limited, banned, and had accounts closed – sometimes without reason – and we’ve won and we’ve lost at all of these bookmakers.
When we say a bookmaker is worth your time it’s because we know from experience how they handle disputes, how they pay out, and whether they are likely to close you down or heavily restrict you for winning too much.

TL;DR on Our Best Australian Betting Sites
π Best Overall Betting Site: Picklebet – We’ve had accounts at Picklebet since 2019 and seen it grow into one of the cleanest and most unique betting platforms out there. Our average withdrawal time over the last 12 months has been less than one hour, and their AFL/NRL SGM builder with live odds updating works more cleanly than any other site we’ve tried.
π Best Sports Betting Sites: Picklebet, Bet365, Neds, EliteBet, Dabble – All have 200+ markets per game and excellent SGM features. We’ve had our Dabble accounts since they launched in 2020 and their social betting app is something that has really grown on us. If you haven’t tried it, it adds a lot of fun and banter to your betting.
π Best Racing Betting Sites: Bet365, Neds, Dabble – Top racing odds, exotics, SRM, and racing live streams.
π€ Betting Sites: Our top-rated sports betting sites are quick and easy to use on any device, but we do put a strong focus on mobile apps and mobile websites. Most of the best sports betting sites also offer live streaming of racing and sports, so you can watch all the action after you’ve placed your bets. Read our expert reviews to find out more about each bookmaker.
π Horse Racing Betting Sites: The best horse racing betting sites will offer generous fixed price and tote odds, a full selection of exotic markets (including trifectas and first-fours), same race multis, and the live streaming of Australian and New Zealand races.
π Sports Betting Sites: The best sports betting sites offer a wide range of markets for each event (some sites like Neds and Dabble offer 200+ markets for AFL and NRL games) including player props, lines and total points markets. A slick SGM is an absolute must these days, and live streaming of sports like NBA and soccer are an added bonus.

Australian Betting Laws & Regulations 2026
Who Licenses Australian Bookies?
Every bookmaker listed on GoBet has a licence from an Aussie state or territory regulator. Most of the big bookies are licensed through the NT, which has been the home base for corporate bookies as long as we can remember. Most of the smaller bookies tend to be licensed through Liquor & Gaming NSW or the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission.
If you come across a bookmaker through a source other than GoBet, you can check the ACMA website to see if it’s licensed here.
No Sign-Up Bonuses in Ads (Since May 2019)
Back in May 2019, the rules changed and bookies could no longer publicly advertise sign-up bonuses, deposit matches, or any other inducement to attract new customers.
Promos do exist with most bookmakers – you just can’t see them until you’re logged in. Sign up with a bookie, check the Promotions tab, and whatever’s going that week will be sitting there.
No Credit Cards for Betting (Since June 2024)
Credit cards have been banned for gambling deposits since June 2024 – which was long overdue.
Most betting sites still have plenty of quick and easy deposit options available, such as debit cards, PayID, POLi, bank transfer and BPAY.
BetStop: The National Self-Exclusion Register
BetStop is Australia’s national self-exclusion register where you can choose to exclude yourself from all betting sites for a period of three months to lifetime. Once you have self-excluded, bookmakers cannot contact you at all during this time.
Every betting site on GoBet is connected to BetStop. If you think it’s time for a break, visit betstop.gov.au and sign yourself up.
No Live In-Play Sports Betting Online
Thanks to the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, you can’t place in-play sports bets online in Australia. Once the game’s started, your only option is picking up the phone and calling the bookie. Placing the bet must be done 100% over the phone.
What’s Changing in 2027?
Gambling advertising laws are constantly changing in Australia, and January 2027 is when the next round of advertising reforms kicks in. The crackdown covers TV ads, radio ads, online ads and sports sponsorships – including team sponsorship and stadium sponsorship.
Full details are due in May 2026 and we’ll update this page when we know more.
