Super Rugby Pacific Round 8 Tips

Friday 4/4/25

5:05pm Chiefs vs Reds @ FMG Stadium

We thought the Chiefs would be much shorter than –12.5 favourites, so we’re taking the leading New Zealand team to put up a number on the Reds.

The Chiefs enjoyed a much-needed week off in Round 7, and the Reds didn’t look very good when holding off the Force 28-24, so they’ll need to be much better to keep it close against the Chiefs at FMG Stadium.

The line is likely to move to around –14.5 during the week, so jump on the current offering.

Betting tip: Chiefs –12.5 @ $1.90

Saturday 5/4/25

12:05pm Moana Pasifika vs Waratahs @ North Harbour Stadium

Moana Pasifika have been the underdog story of 2025, and they come off a massive win over the Crusaders last week.

The 45-29 win was completely unexpected as +20.5 underdogs, and it comes as no surprise to see them listed as favourites against the struggling Waratahs, who suffered a 57-12 loss to the Hurricanes on Friday.

Taking $1.75 for Moana Pasifika isn’t easy, but they’re playing great rugby, and their winning run could continue.

Betting tip: Moana Pasifika @ $1.75

2:35pm Fijian Drua vs Crusaders @ ANZ Stadium

The Crusaders need a bounce back effort following a shock loss to Moana Pasifika, and it could come when playing the Fijian Drua on Saturday.

The Drua were thumped 52-15 in their latest game, but they are only +5.5 underdogs against the Crusaders, which is an interesting line. We priced the Crusaders at –13.5, and it’s a little concerning to see bookmakers going in the other direction.

However, we’ll stick to our guns and back the Crusaders to cover the spread and score an easy win.

Betting tip: Crusaders –5.5 @ $1.90

5:05pm Blues vs Hurricanes @ Eden Park

Not much has gone right for the Blues this year, which is why we’re surprised by the odds. Bookies have the Blues at $1.51 against the Hurricanes, despite being hammered by the Crusaders before a bye week.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes scored a one-sided win over the Waratahs, and we think these teams are heading in different directions.

Value is with the Hurricanes at $2.44, especially considering the line is only 3.5.

Betting tip: Hurricanes @ $2.44

7:35pm Force vs Highlanders @ HBF Park

The Force and Highlanders haven’t played too poorly at times, and they arguably could have won many more games.

We feel as though that’s more the case for the Highlanders, who couldn’t quite beg back the Brumbies last week, but the Force are easier to beat.

Playing at home helps the Force, but we can’t entertain the $1.54 odds. That’s too short for a team of their ability, so take the better value with the Highlanders at $2.36.

Betting tip: Highlanders @ $2.36
