UEFA Champions League Semi Final 1st Leg Tips & Predictions

It is very much the business end of the 2025/26 Champions League, with just four teams left in the mix.

Defending champions PSG will take on Bayern Munich, in what should be a two-legged tie for the ages, whilst Atletico Madrid and Arsenal will be desperate to break their respective ducks in winning the famous competition.

Giants of the game such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City have all been sent packing and the final four sides have Budapest in their sights.

Both games should make for fascinating viewing and the margins for error are so tight.

On paper, this meeting between Atletico Madrid and Arsenal should make for fascinating viewing. Atletico have long been seen as the great disruptors of the European game, finding a way to win under Diego Simeone, against the backdrop of Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spanish football. Resources have grown and their capabilities have expanded, making them one of the most dangerous sides in Europe currently. For Arsenal, expectation has seen them crumble in both of England’s domestic cups and they have a Premier League title race on their hands but winning the Champions League would be a huge step forward for the Gunners. They too have spent big, chasing big accolades and this is a significant trip to the Spanish capital. This will be cagey and tight, and both sides may settle for a draw, with a trip to Arsenal in the pipeline next week.

Defending European champions PSG will be desperate to push on with the defence of their title, as they welcome Bayern Munich to the French capital. From the start of the season, both sides had been identified as potential Champions League winners and with domestic success secured, they will be desperate to add European acclaim to their achievements. PSG swept aside Liverpool with ease in the quarter finals and are brimming with confidence under Luis Enrique. Bayern meanwhile are getting it done impressively under Vincent Kompany and they have a squad desperate to make a mark this term. This first game could be tight, but PSG look well placed to hold a slender 1st leg advantage.
