England vs. Spain Predictions

England vs Spain – Stadium Australia – Sunday 20th August

England ($2.93)

Spain ($2.75)

Draw ($3.10)

England take on Spain, as both sides chase their maiden FIFA Women’s World Cup triumph.

England have slowly grown into the tournament and remain unbeaten, whilst Spain have recovered from a chastening group stage run to find themselves on the cusp of World Cup glory, in what should be an epic encounter in Sydney.

England

European champions England have long been touted for World Cup glory, with the strength of the domestic game in England now having a knock on effect globally.

Seeing off Denmark, Haiti and China in the group stage was backed up with a penalty shootout win over Nigeria in the last 16 before beating Colombia in the last 8.

Impressively, they held their nerve to beat co-hosts Australia against a partisan backdrop in the semi-finals and now stand one game away from World Cup glory.

Spain

It has been a tournament of two halves for Spain, who didn’t live up to their early tournament hype in the group stages. Seeing off Costa Rica and Zambia was fully expected but the way in which they crumbled to Japan had plenty of experts doubting their credentials moving forwards.

However, they have come of age in the knockout rounds, hammering Switzerland before edging past the Netherlands to reach the last 4.

Their resilience was tested once more in the semi-finals as they scored in the 89th minute to overcome Sweden and reach the 2023 FIFA World Cup final.

England vs Spain Betting Tips

Both teams to score in the match – Yes

World Cup finals do tend to be cagey affairs and whilst that is sure to be the case here, both England and Spain prefer to get the ball down and play on the front foot. The whole world will be watching, and both of these sides will want to put on a show at Stadium Australia.

Betting tip: Both teams to score – Yes ($2.10)

The match to finish as a draw

As reflected in the odds for this one, calling a winner in normal time is tough and a draw looks to be the most likely outcome after 90 minutes. England have experience of playing games of this magnitude at international level, whilst Spain’s domestic superstars have a similar knowledge pool to call upon.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.10)

England to lift the trophy

Whilst Spain are a dangerous side, with plenty of impressive talent, England have been on a steady journey to the top of world football, and it does feel like this is their time. It should be an epic at Stadium Australia, and it could be the Lionesses who get the job done once more.

Betting tip: England to lift the trophy ($2.25)

Correct score: England 1 – 1 Spain – ($6.25)
