Women’s World Cup Round of 16 Predictions

Switzerland vs Spain

Switzerland ($4.75)

Spain ($1.91)

Draw ($3.4)

Two European giants kick off the last 16, with Switzerland taking on Spain. It was an attritional group stage for the Swiss, who edged out the Philippines and co-hosts New Zealand to top the Group and progress. Spain meanwhile finished second in their group, with a 4-0 loss to Japan a particular low point – making this one tough to call. Spain should however have too much in the tank here.

Betting tip: Spain to win the match ($1.91)

Spain to win 2-1

Japan vs Norway

Japan ($1.78)

Norway ($4.75)

Draw ($3.8)

It has been an impressive World Cup for Japan, who blitzed all before them and face their latest test against Norway. Thrashing Spain in the group stages was a real marker for Japan, with plenty of people fancying them to go all the way. By contrast, Norway started the campaign with a loss to New Zealand and snuck through their weak group and they don’t look to have enough to trouble the rampant Japanese here.

Betting tip: Japan to win the match ($1.78)

Japan to win 2-0

South Africa vs Netherlands

South Africa ($9.5)

Netherlands ($1.3)

Draw ($5.75)

After crushing Vietnam 7-0, the Netherlands are fancied by many to continue their run here against South Africa. As a relative surprise package, South Africa have proven themselves to be very difficult to beat and they will be up for this against the Dutch. However, topping a group ahead of the USA is sure to give the Netherlands confidence and they should be full steam ahead throughout this one.

Betting tip: Netherlands to win the match ($1.3)

Netherlands to win 3-0

Sweden vs USA

Sweden ($10)

USA ($1.33)

Draw ($6)

It has been a fractious tournament for holders USA, and they will need to find form quickly against Sweden. Topping the group was a real achievement for Sweden, who have plenty of good players and they won’t fear USA in this one. Writing off a team as successful as the USA is always dangerous though and their players look to have a bit of a point to prove currently, making them the wise choice to progress here.

Betting tip: USA to win the match ($1.33)

USA to win 2-1

Nigeria vs England

Nigeria ($5)

England ($1.75)

Draw ($3.5)

Nigeria will be looking to shock the world as they take on European champions England. The Nigerians managed to progress behind Australia, and they have captured many hearts and minds at this tournament so far. England found serious form last time out, thumping China 6-1 and they are now looking like one of the teams to beat. Nigeria will make this tough, but England should ultimately get the job done and reach the last 8.

Betting tip: England to win the match ($1.75)

England to win 2-0

Australia vs Denmark

Australia ($2.1)

Denmark ($3.4)

Draw ($3.4)

One of the toughest games to call in the last 16 pits Australia against Denmark. The Aussies shows mettle to overcome Canada and reach the knockout rounds, carrying the hopes of a nation with them once again here. Denmark progressed behind England, without having to show their best football and they could be dangerous here, but home advantage could prove telling for Australia.

Betting tip: Australia to win the match ($2.1)

Australia to win 2-1

Colombia vs Jamaica

Colombia ($3.4)

Jamaica ($2.42)

Draw ($3.5)

Two serious surprise packages face off, with Colombia taking on Jamaica for a place in the last 8. Colombia picked up a famous result against Germany and they look to be relishing every battle at this World Cup. Jamaica meanwhile ousted Brazil in one of the all-time World Cup shocks and they too have no sense of fear and plenty of belief. This will be tight, with perhaps key players for Jamaica deciding it.

Betting tip: Jamaica to win the match ($2.42)

Jamaica to win 2-1

France vs Morocco

France ($1.1)

Morocco ($31)

Draw ($21)

France haven’t been at their fluent best so far at the World Cup, but they are in the last 16 and they play Morocco next. For France, this could be the ideal game for them to find form and they are a sleeping giant of sorts at this World Cup. Morocco meanwhile, outdid Germany to reach the knockout rounds and they have plenty of quality to hurt France, but les Blues should prevail here and reach the quarter finals.

Betting tip: France to win the match ($1.1)

France to win 3-0
