Super Rugby AU Final

Reds vs Brumbies Betting Preview

The two best teams battle on Saturday night to determine the Super Rugby AU winner.

The Queensland Reds have been the most consistent team of the season, losing just one game when taking the foot off the gas against the Western Force two weeks ago.

It hasn’t been as easy for the Brumbies, which lost both previous meetings against the Reds. However, there is only one meeting that counts and it’s this weekend.

The Brumbies progressed to the final after beating the Force 21-9 last week, but we weren’t overly impressed with the performance.

They had a one-man advantage for most of the game and they weren’t able to fully capitalise on it. We thought they would have put at least 20 points on the Force, so improvement is needed if the Brumbies want to lift the title.

We’re surprised at the bookmakers’ odds for this game. We thought the Brumbies would be $2.80 outsiders to beat the Reds for the first time, so the $2.38 is a touch short for our liking.

There is no doubt the Reds have been the most impressive team and they’ll have confidence having beaten the Brumbies twice already this year.

Bookmakers have the Reds at $1.61, which should drop throughout the week. Punters should come for the favourites and the price could firm into around $1.50.

We recommend taking the Reds in the head-to-head market and with the points start. They are giving the Brumbies 4.5 points, which is an unconverted try. That’s not the hardest line to cover and just like the head-to-head line, we think it will move throughout the week.

Punters should be confident of a Reds victory and redemption for losing in the final last year.

Reds vs Brumbies Exotic Tips

The Reds are packed are try-scoring talent and we have our eye on two players who could cross the white line on Saturday.

Jordan Petaia has established himself as a quality player and he would love to score a try in the final. He has been in excellent form for the Reds and it’s no surprise to see him start as the try-scoring favourite.

Bookmakers are offering $2.20 for Petaia to score a try and although it’s on the short side, he is worth including in selections.

The other Reds player we like is Alex Mafi. It’s odd to see a hooker on the fifth line of betting, but the 24-year-old can sniff out a try close to the line.

Punters get $3.60 for Mafi to score and that’s worth the risk.

We think the Brumbies will score at least two tries, and they’re likely to come from Tom Wright. He has been strong and his size could be too much for the Reds defence to handle.

He is the current favourite in the Brumbies lineup and most games between the Reds and Brumbies are high-scoring affairs, which plays into Wright’s hands.

Take Wright to score at $2.60Bet @ Sportsbet
