We have expert betting tips for Super Rugby AU Round 8, which starts on Friday night with the Rebels vs Force.
Action continues on Saturday with the Reds vs Brumbies, which is a repeat of last year’s Grand Final.
It should be another great week and punters get value odds with bookmakers.
Super Rugby AU Round 8 Predictions
7:45pm Rebels vs Force @ AAMI Park
The Rebels were given respect in the betting markets against the Reds last week, but it was horribly misguided.
Melbourne played terribly throughout the game, eventually losing 44-19 in a one-sided affair. It showed how far ahead the likes of the Reds and Brumbies are of the rest, so the Rebels need to improve.
However, coming up against the Force will be much easier. The Western Force enjoyed the bye week in Round 7 and they needed it.
It has been a rough season for the Rebels, which have won only one from five games. They did well to win the one game earlier this season, but there wasn’t much to like about their recent game.
The Brumbies scored a 41-14 win and it showed how poor the Force are on attack. Scoring only 14 points in a wide-open contest wasn’t good enough and there aren’t enough talented players in the backline.
Backing the Rebels with any confidence isn’t easy, but bookmakers have installed them as red-hot favourites for Friday’s game. The Rebels are –10.5, which is a fair line, but most of the money has come for the Force.
If the Force can get off to a positive start, we should see a close game. Having had a week off is ideal and with the Force refreshed and ready to go, we suggest taking the Force +10.5.
One player we like to cross the line is Jordan Olowofela. He has looked dangerous at times this season and punters get $3.10 to enjoy.
Betting tip: Force +10.5 @ $1.89 – Bet @ Sportsbet
7:45pm Reds vs Brumbies @ Suncorp Stadium
The Reds and Brumbies meet again this season and we’re expecting fireworks. It was a quality contest when they met earlier this season, with the Reds coming out narrowly ahead in a high-scoring affair.
Queensland has been the much better team this season and last week’s results confirmed it. The Reds scored a 44-19 win against the Rebels and the Brumbies only narrowly got past the woeful Waratahs.
The Brumbies were particularly poor last week and although there wasn’t much pressure to win, scoring by two points against the Waratahs is as good as a loss.
We have little doubt the Brumbies will be up for this game. It’s a repeat of last year’s final, which they won, and the Reds have already bettered them this season.
Bookmakers have little separating them, with the Reds the $1.76 favourites. We think the Reds are excellent value again this week, and we like their chances to go 2-0 up on the Brumbies.
A player to watch is Jordan Petaia. He has been in scintillating form in the Reds backline and he should get plenty of opportunities to cross the line.
We’re expecting another free-flowing game and given how many quality players the Reds have; we can’t wait to see the result.
Betting tip: Reds to win @ $1.76 – Bet @ Sportsbet
