ATP Italian Open Tips & Predictions
—
ATP Italian Open Best Bet – Novak Djokovic
The Serbian might have missed the last couple of tournaments due to injury, but he’s the worthy favourite.
The Italian Open field doesn’t include Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz, so he’s clearly the best player in the tournament.
He comes off a semifinal loss at the Monte-Carlo Masters to Ruud, but considering he was playing with an injury, it was a good effort.
The three-time French Open winner knows what it takes to win on the clay, and although it’s not his favourite surface, getting $3.50 for a player of his ilk is tough to overlook.
The top-ranked player should make his mark in Rome over the next two weeks.
Bet: Novak Djokovic @ $3.50
ATP Italian Open Best Value – Casper Ruud
We have been impressed with the improved form from Casper Ruud this year, despite losing in the Round of 16 at the Madrid Open last week.
The 25-year-old looked much better when winning the Barcelona Open, where he got the better of Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
It was a great effort, which followed losing in the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters. He has been playing consistent tennis, and winning on the clay isn’t anything new for the Norwegian.
Getting $12.00 for Ruud is an excellent price. We see him at least making the semifinals, and his ATP Italian Open odds would be around $4.50 should he make it that far.
Bet: Casper Ruud @ $12.00
ATP Italian Open Next Best – Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal is still the king of clay, and although this is his final year on the tour, he could still have a win on the cards.
The Spanish superstar was beaten in the Round of 16 in Madrid, which was a level below his best, but he was always going to need more court time.
The 37-year-old has been plagued by injuries, but he’s a 22-time grand slam winner, and that can’t be overlooked.
There has been solid betting support for him at $13.00, so he hasn’t been completely overlooked by bookmakers.
We’re happy to have him in our selections at the value odds.
Bet: Rafael Nadal @ $13.00
ATP Italian Open Best Roughie – Andrey Rublev
Andrey Rublev comes off a title win at Madrid, so we’re surprised he’s not shorter in tennis betting markets.
The Russian defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final in three sets. It was a gutsy effort from the 26-year-old, who needed the confidence boost following a poor showing in Barcelona.
He was beaten in the Round of 32 against Brandon Nakashima, and he shouldn’t be losing to players like that.
We loved his bounce back performance and getting $15.00 is generous. We priced him around $11.00 following that ATP tournament win, so snap up the value before he firms throughout the week.
Bet: Andrey Rublev @ $15.00
