We have expert betting predictions for the US Open Women’s Tennis semifinals, which are played this Friday.
After almost two weeks of play, the four best female players do battle for a place in the US Open Final. We preview Brady vs. Osaka and Williams vs. Azarenka, which are set to excite.
2020 Women’s US Open Semi-finals Predictions
Jennifer Brady vs. Naomi Osaka
The form of Jennifer Brady leading into this semifinal game shouldn’t be understated, and she could give Osaka a run for her money.
The American is ranked #41 but she has yet to drop a set at the 2020 US Open, so she demands the utmost respect.
After beating Angelique Kerber in straight sets, she faced a tough test against Yulia Putintseva, but that match was finished in just over an hour.
Naomi Osaka hasn’t done much wrong throughout her tournament either, which includes three straight sets victories. Two of her matches went to a third set, but she always looked in control.
The Japanese native is a proven winner in Grand Slams, and her 2-0 win over Shelby Rogers was a good indication of her ability.
The notable difference between these players in their experience under pressure. Osaka has defeated Serena Williams to win a Grand Slam, whereas this is new territory for Brady.
They have played each other twice throughout their careers and it’s 1-1. Their first meeting came in 2014 with Brady winning in straight sets, but four years later, it was Osaka that scored the comfortable win.
Bookmakers have Naomi Osaka as the $1.40 favourite and that’s what we expected. She is the proven player at this level and her confidence is unwavering.
Brady might feel the pinch of overachieving to this point, and it could be a comfortable win for Osaka.
The $1.40 is a fair price from bookmakers and we’re expecting the odds to shorten on Friday morning.

Serena Williams vs. Victoria Azarenka
A mouthwatering semifinal clash takes place on Friday afternoon, as the red-hot Azarenka faces Williams for the 24th time in their career.
Azarenka took some time off tennis, and although it has taken time to get back to her best, she has been on fire in the US Open.
The Belarussian steamrolled Elise Mertens in the semifinal, winning 6-1, 6-0. It was a dominant display and she exceeded expectations, despite being the favourite.
She has the better form coming into this game compared to Serena Williams, who has had to call on her champion abilities more than once.
Williams has won her last three games 2-1, which could take its toll in the semifinal. She has looked fatigued, and the quick turnaround won’t do her any good.
There is no escaping the fact that Williams hasn’t won a Grand Slam since becoming a mother, and that trend could continue at the 2020 US Open.
We can’t doubt her ability to keep finding when the pressure is on, but Azarenka is a physical player who will outrun Williams.
Bookmakers have Williams as the $1.80 favourite, which is much longer than she would have been in past years. There is respect for Azarenka, and we think she will get the better of Williams on Friday.
She appears to be having more fun, and that relaxed attitude is refreshing to see. Her second serve will need to improve a touch, as Serena likes to punish weak second serves. However, our confidence is high with Azarenka.
Take the $2, because if Victoria Azarenka wins the first set, it could be too much for Serena to handle.
