2021 Women’s Wimbledon Semi-Finals Predictions

Karolina Pliskova vs Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka score an emphatic 6-4 6-3 victory to make the semifinals and she has been respected in betting markets.

The Belarussian is the second seed for Wimbledon and she’s paying $1.45 to beat Karolina Pliskova, who was also extremely impressive in the quarters.

The Czech won 6-2 6-2 over a much inferior opponent, and she was hitting her ground strokes nicely, which is a good sign against Sabalenka.

Pliskova has yet to drop a set at the tournament, which can’t be said for Sabalenka, who has been taken to three sets twice. That is a concern for the favourite, but she continues to find ways to get over the line.

In favour of Sabalenka is the previous two meetings against Pliskova, which went her way. The most recent game was in 2018, so it has been three years between drinks. She won both matches 2-1, so they are typically close affairs.

Pliskova has a season record of 20 wins and 12 losses, compared to 34 wins and 10 losses for Sabalenka. Her experience on court could come into play, and although the $1.45 is too short, she should be winning.

The game handicap is 3.5 games and Sabalenka is paying $1.96. There is more value with this option and we’re prepared to take a risk for the better price.

Tip: Aryna Sabalenka –3.5 @ $1.96Bet @ Sportsbet

Ashleigh Barty vs Angelique Kerber

Ash Barty took care of fellow Australian Ajla Tomljanovic in straight sets on Wednesday and we’re not surprised she’s the short favourite to progress to the final.

She was in full control throughout the game and her forehand was terrific. It left her opponent dead in her tracks on multiple occasions, which could be the case against the older Angelique Kerber.

The German has to be respected as she is a former winner at Wimbledon. She is living up to our expectations and her pre-tournament odds were way off the mark.

She dispatched of a difficult Muchova 6-2 6-3 in the quarters, so that was a terrific win and she never lacks confidence in the big games.

The past history reflects an even matchup. They have alternated wins since 2017, with Kerber holding the 3-2 advantage. She won the most recent outing at the Hopman Cup in Australia in straight sets.

We think this game will go to three sets as we can’t see Barty or Kerber being dominant enough. Both players are extremely talented, but they’re both in exceptional form and it should be a tight tussle from the outset.

We think Barty will get the job done, so take the $1.39 and add it to tennis multis. We would look for value in margin markets, but the safer option is to back the Australian in head-to-head markets.

Taking Barty to win 2-1 pays $3.70, so that’s where punters could find a value price.

Tip: Ashleigh Barty @ $1.39Bet @ Sportsbet
