Gold Coast made life tough for itself with a loss to Port Adelaide last week, and because it’s limping into the finals, we’re backing Essendon to cover the massive spread in its last chance to win fans over.

It has been a tough year for Essendon, which was thwarted by injuries, but the Bombers get a chance to end the year on a high. A close game against Gold Coast could see some fans come back next year, and that’s what they need.

The SUNS lost 71-67 to Port last week, which was a terrible loss. Their confidence levels can’t be high following that effort, and although we believe they will win this game, it’s unlikely to come by over 50 points.

Peter Wright needs to stand up and deliver for Essendon, and we fancy his chances of scoring 2+ goals in what should be a high-scoring game.

Wright had two goals last week against Carlton, and he’s capable of more. He should look to lead the Bombers to a solid performance, and getting $2.45 for 2+ goals is a good price from bookmakers.

Ben Ainsworth 2+ goals at $2.45 is also worth including. He didn’t score last weekend, but he looked good with two goals against GWS. He should be somewhere around that mark, so include him in AFL SGM picks.
