Hawthorn vs. Brisbane Predictions

Best Bet

Hawthorn –9.5 @ $1.90

It won’t be an easy game for Hawthorn, but we’re sticking with our guns and backing them with confidence. The Hawks have lost three games to top eight teams, which is the big concern against the second-placed Lions. However, playing at home is a big help.

Hawthorn comes off a 104-96 loss to Gold Coast, which followed three consecutive wins over Melbourne, Richmond, and West Coast. They are three of the easiest teams to beat, but as they showed last year, their best form comes towards the middle of the season.

Brisbane had a draw against North Melbourne before losing to Melbourne, so it’s not playing well, which is why Hawthorn has been backed into a –9.5 line. Playing at the MCG is a bonus, and Hawthorn should measure up and win comfortably.

Same Game Multi

Hawthorn –9.5, Jack Gunston 2+ Goals, Nick Watson 2+ Goals, Total Match Points Over 172.5 @ $5.25

Backing Jack Gunston and Nick Watson every week has paid off, so we’re not about to leave them out of our AFL same game multis.

Gunston kicked three goals last week, making it 19 goals from his last five goals. He’s in fine goal scoring form, and getting $1.54 to kick 2+ goals is generous. If you want more value, he’s paying $2.70 to kick 3+ goals.

Watson has 11 goals from his last five games, including three last week. Punters get $1.73 for Watson to score twice, and that’s a value price from bookmakers.

Over 172.5 is included in our AFL same game multi picks. They scored 175 points in their most recent meeting last year, which followed a 171-point game. That bodes well for punters including the over in predictions.

Best Value Bet

Jack Gunston First Goal Scorer @ $9.75

Gunston could get Hawthorn off to a good start on Saturday, and he often finds his kicking groove early in the game.

Gunston is playing with great confidence, and it will be important for Hawthorn to start well against a Brisbane team needing momentum after a draw and a loss.

Punters get $9.75 for Gunston to kick the opening goal, and those odds are too juicy to overlook.
