Hawthorn vs. Geelong Predictions

Best Bet
Hawthorn didn’t start the year well with a loss to GWS, but they turned things around with wins over Essendon and Sydney.
Beating Essendon wasn’t hard, but scoring a win over Sydney is a good form guide for this game. Sydney was one of the form teams in the competition, and Hawthorn showed good toughness to win 99-82 at home.
It was also a slow start for Geelong, who lost to Gold Coast before beating Fremantle and Adelaide. We’re not sure where they currently sit in the grand scheme of things, and we have Hawthorn playing better on Monday.
The –9.5 line is good enough to include in AFL picks this week and look for the Hawks to get off to a fast start and put pressure on Geelong to play catch-up.

Same Game Multi
Jack Gunston has 13 goals from three games, including four goals last week. He’s the primary scoring threat for the Hawks, and we expect him to have 3+ goals at $1.62.
Malior Chol pays much better at $2.20 to kick 2+ goals. He kicked a double against Sydney last week, and if he can kick a double against the Swans, he should fancy his chances against the Cats. The odds are better than expected, so take the value.
It should be a high-scoring game, so over 185.5 points is worth including in AFL picks this week.

Best Value Bet
Hawthorn is a team that can pile on the points when it gets off to a fast start, so although we respect Geelong’s ability, we have Hawthorn winning by a sizable margin.
It will require their best performance of the year, but they have already handled Sydney, and we don’t rate Geelong as high as we did last year.
$4.10 is a good enough price to take as an AFL value bet.
