St Kilda vs. Carlton Predictions
—
Best Bet
We thought St Kilda would be favourites for this game, but instead of taking St Kilda at $2.30, we’ll happily take them with the points in what should be a close game.
The Saints couldn’t have been more impressive when beating Fremantle 94-33 last week, which ended a three-game losing streak. This team has enough talent to beat top eight teams, and Carlton hasn’t yet shown that they’re an elite team.
It’s rare to see a team sitting in 13th position on the AFL ladder at $1.62 to win, so we’re not taking the bait. We’re happy to pick St Kilda with the points, and if history is anything to go by, it’ll be a low scoring and tight contest throughout.
Same Game Multi
Our same game multi is boosted by the big odds for Corey Durdin to score 2+ goals. He’s a $2.85 chance to score twice, having scored nine goals from his last four games, including two last week against Adelaide.
We don’t think Carlton will score too many goals, but between Charlie Curnow and Durdin, we’re happy to take the much better odds for Durdin to score twice, with Curnow paying a paltry $1.27.
We’re also including Brad Hill to have 20+ disposals for St Kilda. He had 21 last week, which followed a massive 33 disposal total against Brisbane, so he’s capable of putting up big numbers.
Under 167.5 is one of the easier AFL picks of the game. They scored totals of 150, 127, and 142 points in their last three meetings, so the line is much better than we expected.
Best Value Bet
Looking to ride the momentum after scoring four goals last week is Cooper Sharman, who could hit the ground running on Friday.
He had a big game against Fremantle, and although Bradley Hill scored first in that game, with the way Sharman played in the second half, he should be full of confidence.
Look for Sharman to take control early and get himself on the board first.
