Western Bulldogs vs. Essendon Predictions
—
Best Bet
This could be a defining game for Essendon’s 2025 campaign, and we think they’re going to get up for it.
Following consecutive wins over North Melbourne and Sydney, the Bombers are playing with confidence, and they have four wins from their last five overall. They’re knocking on the door of a top eight spot, and a win over the Western Bulldogs would get them there.
Luckily for punters, we don’t need them to win the game to cash. Getting a +23.5 start is significant, especially when looking at their 2024 meeting when Essendon won 96-67 on the road, so that’s the best form guide.
Take the underdogs to test the Bulldogs, and it could come down to who wind the fourth quarter.

Same Game Multi
In their last three meetings they scored totals of 163, 139, and 174, so we’re surprised by the current line. We’re happy to include under 176.5 in our same game multi, purely based on the numbers.
We’re also happy to include Nate Caddy and Aaron Naughton. Caddy has shown good maturity recently, kicking seven goals from his last three games. He scored three against Sydney last week, and his play could elevate Essendon to another level.
On the other side of the coin is Naughton, who didn’t score last week against Gold Coast. He had a rare off game, but he scored 3 goals in three of his previous four games, so the ability is there, which is why he’s paying $1.54 to score 2+ goals.

Best Value Bet
Essendon has been starting games fast, even when it loses, so we’re backing the Bombers to hold a halftime lead.
It won’t be easy against the Bulldogs, hence the $2.87 odds, but if there is one team that comes out quickly, it’s Essendon. It had a 55-16 halftime lead over St Kilda last week before scoring 0.1 in the final quarter.
It’s best to back them early, so take the generous halftime odds.
