EPL Week 38 Predictions
—
Tottenham ($3.40)
Brighton ($2.05)
Draw ($4.33)
With Tottenham having their attention on the Europa League final against Manchester United in midweek, Brighton will more than fancy their chances of pinching the points here in North London. Spurs can salvage their campaign to some degree with a win in Bilbao, but they have been way off the pace in the Premier League this season. Brighton meanwhile could still force their way into the European football picture next season, and this is must-win for them. Goals look guaranteed here, with Brighton perhaps in the best place to prevail.
Brighton to win 3-1
—
Bournemouth ($1.36)
Leicester City ($9.50)
Draw ($5.60)
Bournemouth’s season has petered out a touch, but they will be looking to finish it strongly here against relegated Leicester City. The Cherries had been knocking on the door of the top 4 earlier in the campaign but have found the going very tough in their last few games. Leicester City meanwhile are bracing themselves for life in the Championship again next season, with a rebuild seemingly needed. This should be a good game, with neither side having much to play for but Bournemouth should have enough about them to come out on top.
Bournemouth to win 4-1
—
Wolves ($2.80)
Brentford ($2.44)
Draw ($3.75)
Two sides that will be settling for a mid-table finish meet here, as Wolves and Brentford clash in the West Midlands. Wolves have improved significantly since Vitor Pereira has joined the club and they will be looking to kick on in the Premier League again next season. Brentford meanwhile have made great strides under Thomas Frank and look to be assembling a squad capable of challenging for Europe next term. There will be a testimonial feel to this one, with goals on the cards and it should make for entertaining viewing.
2-2 Draw
—
Liverpool ($1.40)
Crystal Palace ($7.50)
Draw ($6.25)
Champions Liverpool take on FA Cup winners Crystal Palace in what will also be the Community Shield fixture next season. The reds have been the dominant force in the Premier League this season, even if recent results have seen them go off the boil a touch. Crystal Palace meanwhile enjoyed their day in the sun at Wembley, winning a major trophy for the first time in their history and could still be feeling the after effects of that here. This should be a good game, with Liverpool ready to win and then lift the Premier League trophy.
Liverpool to win 3-1
—
Southampton ($8.50)
Arsenal ($1.45)
Draw ($5.80)
Bottom club Southampton endure their final Premier League fixture of the season, as they take on Arsenal at St Mary’s. Saints don’t have the record of the lowest ever EPL points total but have been way off the pace this term and look to be a club in relative limbo. Arsenal meanwhile have come up short in their trophy quest once again this season and Mikel Arteta will find himself buying plenty of players once again in the summer. This is a dead rubber, but Arsenal should have the personnel to prevail comfortably here.
Arsenal to win 3-0
—
Manchester United ($4.50)
Aston Villa ($1.85)
Draw ($4.20)
Aston Villa still have a shot at cracking the top 5 in the Premier League and they take on Manchester United here, hoping for results to go their way elsewhere. United have the Europa League final on their minds in midweek and regardless of the outcome there, they will be chasing a strong finish to the Premier League season. Villa have impressed this season and should be playing some version of European football next term, with a win here giving them an outside chance of playing in the Champions League and they should prevail at Old Trafford.
Aston Villa to win 2-1
—
Fulham ($5.00)
Manchester City ($1.67)
Draw ($4.50)
A first trophyless season in the best part of a decade will be plaguing Manchester City here and they arrive in West London, needing a point to secure Champions League football next season. Fulham have their own aspirations too and have enjoyed a very good season under Marco Silva. City came up short in the FA Cup final last weekend and clearly have work to do if they are to be challenging at the sharp end of the table again next season. City have been doing the bare minimum all season and they should scrape the point that secures their top 5 standing.
1-1 Draw
—
Nottingham Forest ($3.25)
Chelsea ($2.18)
Draw ($3.75)
Two sides still in the conversation to break the top 5 meet here, as Nottingham Forest and Chelsea lock horns in the East Midlands. Forest have surpassed expectations this season and still stand with a chance of playing Champions League football next term. The UCL should be a minimum requirement for Chelsea, who still feel like work in progress under Enzo Maresca and a top 5 finish would be a step in the right direction. Chelsea perhaps need this one more than Forest and they should squeeze over the line here.
Chelsea to win 2-1
Ipswich Town ($3.20)
West Ham United ($2.20)
Draw ($3.85)
Relegated Ipswich will be looking to go down with a fight, as they welcome West Ham to Suffolk. The second half of the season has been a struggle for the Tractor Boys, who look to have a rebuild job on their hands for next season in the Championship. West Ham meanwhile have been underwhelming this season, and they too will be hoping for some change under Graham Potter this summer. Neither side has too much to play for here, but West Ham’s superior goal threat should get them over the line.
West Ham to win 2-1
Newcastle United ($1.36)
Everton ($9.00)
Draw ($5.60)
Newcastle have their top 5 hopes in their own hands and they will be eager to get over the line here, with a win against Everton. Eddie Howe has overseen a very good campaign up in the North East and Champions League football would be a big return for next term. Everton meanwhile are ready for a summer refresh under David Moyes, and they could enjoy spoiling the party in this one. This will be tight and cagey, but Toon should pick up an important home win here.
Newcastle United to win 2-0
