Australian Cup Final Form Guide & Tips
(1) Dramatical (Best Bet – $3.20)
Boasting four consecutive wins and 11 wins from 17 starts overall is Dramatical, who is our best bet to win the Australian Cup.
He is a slick customer, who was strong to the line last time out, and that’s the best form guide for the feature race.
Take the $3.20 before money comes for him late.
(2) Cleo’s Star (Best Each Way – $4.20)
She showed them a clean pair of heels last time out when winning from in front, and if she can cross Dramatical, she could win.
Boasting four wins at the track and distance, Cleo’s Star is a good each-way bet, and we wouldn’t be surprised if she beat the favourite.
(3) Consigliere ($6.00)
He’s never too far away from the prize, and although most of the speed comes from the inside traps, he’s strong enough to joust with them.
If he can settle just behind the speed, he could figure in the finish.
(4) Irish Bill ($13.00)
Given the speed on his inside and outside, we don’t rate Irish Bill’s chances. It’s a horror draw, and Slick Splits will look to head down to the rail.
Based on that, we’re not interested in the $13 odds.
(5) Slick Splits ($6.50)
His winning chances depend on how well he starts. If he doesn’t ping the lids, it’s all but race over. However, if he finds the front, he’ll be tough to beat.
There is an element of risk involved when including Slick Splits, but because of his pace, he goes into selections.
(6) Paw Oswald (Best Roughie – $10.00)
Punters get value odds for Paw Oswald, who was too strong for them in the heat.
He is a proven winner at the track and distance with seven wins and nine placings from 19 starts, and his best time is competitive for Group 1 company.
He could settle just off them and sprint late.
(7) Mav Reiko ($8.00)
He’s gunning for three consecutive wins, but this level of racing might be beyond him at this stage of his career.
(8) Mepunga Reward ($8.00)
He made massive late ground to run second in the heat, and he’s a danger from the back of the field.
Drawing wide is ideal for him, as he likes to let the race unfold. If there is trouble up front, he could be the one finishing powerfully.
A first four chance at the odds.
(9) Dashing Slay ($6.00)
A lovely type that would enter calculations if she got into the field.
(10) Neo Devere ($8.50)
Unlikely to be two scratchings, and he would need to lift to win.
