Fanta Bale Stayers Final Form Guide & Tips
(1) Texas President (Best Roughie – $13.00)
He showed good speed throughout last start before settling for second. The final 50m is the worry, but he could establish a big break on them.
We’re hoping he can find the front off the inside draw and hold on for a top three finish.
(2) Fade to Black ($3.80)
We don’t think he deserves to be the favourite, especially considering he owns only two placings from six attempts at the track and distance.
We’re not leaving him out of our Fanta Bale Stayers Final picks, but the $3.80 is too short. We priced him at $5.50.
(3) Vodka and Ice (Best Bet – $4.80)
He has gone from strength to strength this preparation after posting three consecutive wins. He won by two lengths last time out, which is a good form guide.
Punters get value odds, and he should settle midfield and come with a big run down the back straight.
(4) Irish Millie ($35.00)
Her form hasn’t been overly good this preparation, and the $35 odds should be much higher. We can’t see her going close.
(5) Mepunga Lara ($4.50)
She caused an upset when winning at $15 in the heat, which was the fastest heat win. However, getting a middle trap isn’t ideal, and she might have peaked with that effort.
We’re including her in first four picks, but things might not go her way this time around, and it could see her get shuffled back.
(6) Ayden’s Warrior ($4.50)
Beaten by Mepunga Lara last time out, but nothing went his way early. He will need luck from the draw, but we’re happy to give him another chance.
The 23-time winner has class on his side, and punters get each-way odds from bookmakers, so he goes into greyhound selections.
(7) Mepunga Donna ($23.00)
She’s enjoying a consistent campaign, but this might be a level too far. The odds are accurate, so it could pay to wait for something easier.
(8) Magpie Hector (Best Each Way – $4.50)
He made good ground late in the heat, and drawing wide should give him every chance of winding up down the back straight.
He has more upside than many greyhounds in this race, being a 12-time winner from 28 starts, which is an excellent record.
(9) Baffert ($16.00)
Unlikely to run, but he would need to find a length or two to be considered a winning hope.
(10) King Ron ($91.00)
Not running like a king, hence the big odds.
