Maturity Classic Form Guide & Tips
(1) Follow the Band (Best Bet – $2.40)
We’re picking Follow the Band to win after three exceptional victories on the bounce.
Getting the inside trap adds to his appeal, and with five wins at the track and distance, he knows the track well.
With the inside trap, he should be awfully tough to beat.
(2) Container ($10.00)
He comes off a good heat win, but there are some legitimate superstars in this race, and we don’t think he’s one of them.
He is likely to get back in the run and struggle to pick them up.
(3) Zipping Grylls ($6.50)
Having explosive trap speed helps, but he will need to clear the inside dog and favourite to win.
If he can’t cross Follow the Band, we think his chances of winning are gone. However, he’s a chance at figuring in the finish.
Include him in first four bets.
(4) Tully Luna ($51.00)
At big odds, and we have a sneaky feeling the stable might scratch Tully Luna so the more favoured stablemate House of Turbo gets in the field.
If she does run, expect her to get too far back to make any impression.
(5) Ethanol Water (Best Each Way – $4.80)
Jumping from trap five isn’t easy, but she is racing extremely well this preparation with three wins from her last four starts.
The daughter of Drooopys Sydney just needs a clean run from the draw, and she will hit the line with good authority.
Take the each-way odds available.
(6) Vincent Bale ($4.60)
Vincent Bale can’t be overlooked at the each-way odds following four consecutive victories.
The heat win was easy, scoring by two lengths, and he is another runner who should show good speed from the outset.
If he leads into the first corner, he could kick away.
(7) Mepunga Tully (Best Roughie – $10.00)
The daughter of Fernando Bale owns five wins from 12 starts, and she looks like a nice type in the making.
She won her heat by 3.5 lengths after jumping and running, and she paid $16.00 on that occasion. Punters get double-figure odds again, so consider.
(8) King Owen ($26.00)
Got the better of Excavation in the heat and that’s a tidy form guide for this race.
However, he’s another runner that could get too far back in the run and there will be traffic problems.
The odds tell the story.
(9) House of Turbo ($3.50)
If he gets a run, include him in all selections. He is a smart dog with 11 wins, and he was only narrowly beaten in the heat by Ethanol Water.
He’s a $3.50 chance, so there is plenty of betting support for the emergency.
(10) Zipping Hopkins ($12.00)
A nice type, but he’s unlikely to get a run. He would need two scratchings to get a chance.
