Silver Chief Final Form Guide & Tips
(1) Traumatise (Best Bet – $1.50)
Big bets have come for the favourite, and we’re not surprised after his 6.5-length heat win.
The nine-time winner from 17 starts has made an excellent start to his career, and getting the inside trap only adds to his appeal.
The odds are short, but he’s clearly the one to beat.
(2) Ross the Boss ($14.00)
He turned his form around with a heat win over Off the Chart, but that wasn’t the strongest heat win.
We expect him to struggle, especially with Traumatise likely to give him windburn into the first turn, which could see him get shuffled back.
(3) Room to Breathe ($9.00)
He was no match for Traumatise last time out, but that should be the best form guide for the Silver Chief Final.
We’re happy to include him in our picks at each-way odds, and he continues to go from strength-to-strength following an injury.
$2.20 to place is a fair price from bookmakers.
(4) Vista Weird ($9.00)
He wore them down to score a good heat win, but getting back in this field won’t help his chances.
We think he’s underpriced at $9, and we would have been prepared to include him in picks at double-figure odds.
(5) Whiskey Whiskers ($17.00)
He was too good for Dewana Star last time out, but things panned out in his favour over the concluding stages.
We’re not discrediting the win, but he will need to improve on that effort, and we’re not interested in the current odds.
(6) Dewana Star (Best Each Way – $7.00)
He’s only a one-year-old, but he owns eight wins and two placings from 11 starts. He was beaten by Whiskey Whiskers last start, but he should bounce back.
We’re happy to include him in Silver Chief Final picks at the current price.
(7) Electrify ($19.00)
He is gunning for four consecutive wins, and he could add value to first four picks with a repeat of his recent efforts.
He gets back in the run before storming home late, and if there is good pace on up front, he could sit out the back and bide his time.
$19 makes him a worthwhile inclusion.
(8) Weblec Billy (Best Roughie – $19.00)
A three-time winner from five starts at the track and distance. He scored a good heat win, and there is nothing wrong with that form.
Drawing wide should help his chances, and he could blow them away at big odds.
(9) Aston Countach ($13.00)
Solid enough form recently, but he needs a scratching to get into the field. Happy to leave out.
(10) Off the Chart ($7.00)
He should be a $7 chance just to make the field. We can’t see him getting in.
