All-Star Mile Form Guide & Tips
(1) Tom Kitten ($5.50)
He is a tough customer, and he showed his ability when winning fresh up. He has been primed with a trial win, and the $5.50 is an attractive price for a runner of his quality.
We expect him to finish in the first four, so our All-Star Mile picks have him going close.
(2) Buckaroo (Best Each Way – $8.50)
It was hard to not be impressed with Buckaroo’s run for second behind Pericles. He will only improve with the run under his belt, and getting over 1600m is ideal.
We expect him to settle back and come with a big late run, as there will be a stack of speed up front.
(3) Antino ($13.00)
He didn’t show much fresh up, and it’s hard to know what he’s going to produce. Given the odds, we’re happy to leave him out and wait for a betting opportunity.
(4) Evaporate ($11.00)
He doesn’t know how to run a bad race, but due to the depth of this field, we’ve left him out of our All-Star Mile picks.
He might have been only one length behind Pericles last start, but we think that was his best effort, and he’ll need to find two lengths to win.
(5) Steparty ($46.00)
He’s gunning for three straight wins. It’s good seeing him back in form, but it’s unlikely to continue at this level.
(6) Watch Me Rock ($31.00)
He had solid betting support at double-figure odds last start when running sixth. It was only a fair effort, and his form out of Perth might not stack up well.
(7) Sabaj ($23.00)
We love backing Sabaj, but this is a level he’s yet to face. We would prefer to bet on him in something easier later this autumn, and there has been no betting interest.
(8) Pride of Jenni ($4.60)
Tactics won’t be a surprise. She will head forward and look to run them into the ground. It’s tough to know how forward she is, but we’re not leaving her out.
The only problem is that she either wins with ease or finishes down the track, so she is a risky bet.
(9) Stefi Magnetica ($7.00)
Fifth behind Autumn Glow in Sydney last start, and she has been well-backed to score here. That’s a good sign, and she could flash home late.
With only five wins from 25 starts, she can be tough to follow, but the talent is there.
(10) Treasurethe Moment (Best Bet – $5.00)
We’re prepared to give the talented mare another chance following a fresh up third. She hasn’t been the same since suffering a setback last prep, but she’s too good to overlook.
She will come on plenty with that run under her belt, and although she will need to find a length, her Flemington record fills us with confidence.
$5 is a fair price for a proven winner.
(11) Leica Lucy (Best Roughie – $14.00)
The former Kiwi has done well since arriving in Australia, but she’s lacking the big win.
That could come in the All-Star Mile, and it wouldn’t be a huge upset. We expect her to settle handy and show her customary kick.
