Ballarat Synthetic racing tips

Race 1. (13:00) Porter Plant Maiden (1000m)

#3 – Eco Force @ $3.30

Eco Force is good enough to score a minor upset over the favourite, so we’re taking the $3.30 odds.

The Graeme Begg-trained filly ran second on debut at Bendigo before spelling, and that form has since been franked.

Money has come for her, so she should run a good run on Monday.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (13:30) Brandt BM70 (2100m)

#4 – Shadeelaa @ $3.60

Despite the drifting odds, we’re including Shadeelaa in our horse racing picks. He is a two-time winner, and he has been close to scoring at Ballarat.

The four-year-old son of Shalaa runs best on synthetic tracks, and it’s about time he broke through for a win.

Take the $3.60 before late money comes for him.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (14:00) The Haymarket Maiden (2100m)

#10 – The Maestro @ $4.80

Looking to cap off solid form with a win is The Maestro, who ran fourth at Wodonga and Murtoa in preparation for this race.

The six-year-old mare by Inference doesn’t have much of a field to beat here, so that’s in her favour, hence the shortening odds.

If she’s ever going to win, this would be the time.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:30) Global Turf Maiden (1100m)

#1 – Moaksun @ $2.10

Looking to cap off consistent form with a win is Moaksun, who owns nine placings from 13 starts, and has teased punters throughout his career.

The five-year-old son of Akeek Mofeed ran second at Mildura last start, and he’s too overdue a win to leave out of picks.

He should be winning this race, so take the $2.10 odds.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 5. (15:00) Manhari Maiden (1400m)

#5 – Sierra Dee Jay @ $6.00

Each-way value is with Sierra Dee Jay, who ran fifth on debut at Bendigo before struggling to do much last time out.

However, the five-year-old has since changed stables, and he looked solid when winning at jumpout at Ballarat.

That’s a good form guide, so include him in horse racing picks at the price.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (15:30) Hygain Winners Choice BM58 (1500m)

#1 – Taung @ $2.00

Taung couldn’t have been more impressive last start when winning by six lengths to break maidens in dominant fashion.

It was an effortless win from the son of Turffontein, and we expect him to go back-to-back, as conditions aren’t much different.

He only needs to carry the big weight to win, but he’s capable.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 7. (16:00) Sportsbet BM58 (1000m)

#7 – Attaboom @ $9.50

Attaboom runs at nice odds for this race, and despite his recent form not being overly good, he likes running on synthetic tracks.

The one-time winner from 36 starts owns 10 placings from 20 starts on synthetic tracks, so he’s always a good each-way bet at Ballarat.

Money has come for him, which isn’t surprising.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:30) Hygain Winners Choice BM64 (1200m)

#2 – Spirited Defence @ $2.00

We have backed Spirited Defence in every start this preparation, and although he has finished second twice, he also has two wins.

The Andrew Noblet-trained gelding is good enough to settle handy to the speed and put this field away, so anything around $2 is a good price.

Include him in multis to end the day.

Stake: 3 Units
