Ballarat Synthetic racing tips
—
There are two short-priced favourites in this race and we’re going with El Pibe de Oro to win following a win at Ballarat last start.
It was good to see him score an overdue win for punters, and although Rewards and More won’t be easy to beat, he’s paying better odds.
We think he has more toughness, so put him on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Money has come for Brave Carol, who improved to finish third on this track last start, and slight improvement should take her close.
The three-year-old filly by Brave Smash shouldn’t take long to win races at this level, and we’re not surprised by the money coming for her.
She could close at around $2.10 on race day.
Stake: 1.5 Units
There is a short-priced favourite in the mix, but it’s a debutant, and Bella Gisella has form on the board.
The Ciaron Maher-trained filly ran fifth on debut at Beaumont before coming to Victoria and running fourth fresh up at Ballarat.
Improvement is enough to see her run well at generous odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
Looking to cap off four consecutive placings is En Flique, who has attracted the most attention with bookmakers.
The three-year-old filly by Blue Point comes off a second placing at Wangaratta, and she doesn’t need to find much to start stringing wins together.
Getting the inside draw could be all she needs to break through.
Stake: 3 Units
Runchickenrun is another runner nearing a win, and although she finished only fourth last start, it was still a respectable effort.
The four-year-old mare by Shamus Award opened at $2.70 before drifting to $2.90, but the lack of betting support isn’t worrying.
She has enough ability to exit maidens on Friday.
Stake: 1 Unit
The four-year-old gelding has good fresh up form with two starts for two placings, and we fancy his chances of winning on Friday.
He won well two back at Kyneton before struggling last start, but with a spell under his belt, and 2kg off his back, he should be ready to go.
Punters get each-way odds, so include him in picks.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Looking to fire a shot is Dillinger, who gets a valuable 3kg off his back after being allotted 61kg.
The McEvoy-trained five-year-old has plenty of ability, and with four wins and four placings from 15 starts, he should go close against this field.
His odds have drifted, so punters get better value.
Stake: 2 Units
Sontay owns a win and two placings at Ballarat, and she wasn’t far away when third last time out at Ballarat.
The four-year-old daughter of The Autumn Sun hasn’t won this prep, but she’s overdue, and there isn’t much to this field.
We’re taking the each-way odds for the loose favourite.
Stake: 1.5 Units
