Ballarat Synthetic racing tips

Race 1. (13:30) Porter Plant Maiden (1000m)

#8 – Danube @ $4.20

Danube wasn’t far away on debut when fourth at Mornington, and there was good betting support on that occasion.

The Ciaron Maher-trained filly by Street Boss is bred to be handy, and there isn’t much depth to this field on Monday.

Take the each-way odds available, which are generous.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (14:00) Brandt Maiden (1200m)

#4 – Angelos @ $5.00

Angelos is up and running with a third placing on debut and having that experience under her belt is ideal.

The three-year-old filly by All Too Hard was no match for Olatunde on debut, but there is less depth to this field, so she could take advantage.

Take the $5 available as a fair each-way price.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (14:30) Global Turf Maiden (1200m)

#8 – Unsnoozual @ $2.00

Looking to justify favouritism is Unsnoozual, who ran second on debut at Bairnsdale, which is a good effort.

The four-year-old son of Shamus Award ran around a little, but it was a solid effort, and he will only learn from that effort.

We’re happy with the $2 odds, so include him in horse racing multis.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 4. (15:00) Betavet Maiden (1500m)

#5 – Sonder @ $4.20

Sonder hasn’t shown much so far, but there is good betting support, and that’s tough to overlook.

The four-year-old son of Impending comes off a jumpout win, so that’s a good sign, and it could translate to something on race day.

1500m might be short of his best, but he has upside.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (15:30) Manhari BM56 (1500m)

#8 – Kittyhawk @ $4.00

Looking for back-to-back wins is Kittyhawk, who broke maidens with a good maiden win at Ballarat last time out.

The four-year-old mare by Merchant Navy opened at $7 before shortening to $4, which is a big move, and that’s a good sign.

Punters should expect more money to come for her.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 6. (16:00) Hygain Winners Choice BM62 (1000m)

#9 – Odessa @ $1.85

Odessa couldn’t have been more impressive when scoring by 3.8 lengths, and she appreciated the easier level of racing.

The three-year-old filly by Zoustar had been racing at Flemington and Caulfield, so coming to easier races has helped.

She should win again, so take the $1.85 odds before they shorten.

Stake: 4 Units

Race 7. (16:30) Green Tick BM56 (2100m)

#4 – Callawadda @ $5.50

Running at each-way odds is Callawadda, who ran second fresh up at Warrnambool, and that’s a tidy form guide.

The five-year-old son of Fiorente is only a one-time winner from nine starts, but it’s about time he scored an overdue win.

Money has come for him, so we’re happy to include him in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (17:00) Hygain Winners Choice BM56 (1200m)

#3 – Flux @ $5.50

Flux is only a two-time winner from 22 starts, but both wins have come at Ballarat Synthetic, and he saves his best for racing here.

The five-year-old son of Magnus also runs well over the distance, and he’s good enough to carry the weight to victory.

Include the each-way odds in horse racing picks.

Stake: 1 Unit
