Belmont racing tips

Race 1. (15:04) Bert Harrison 3YO (1000m)

#1 – Castle Road

Castle Road owns three wins from six starts, and he drops in grade after running in the Karrakatta Plate.

The three-year-old gelding by Safeguard owns three wins from six starts, and this is one of the weaker Saturday fields for this level.

Punters are likely to get short odds on race day.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 2. (15:44) Neville Parnham Handicap (1600m)

#3 – Noble Connection

Noble Connection comes off back-to-back wins at Pinjarra, and that form is good enough to handle this level of racing.

The four-year-old son of Rommel is a three-time winner from eight starts overall, and he owns a serious turn-of-foot.

We’re hoping for each-way odds from bookmakers.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (16:19) Lou Luciani BM72 (1600m)

#2 – Cool Memory

Cool Memory showed good form fresh up when winning at Bunbury before placing last time out at Belmont.

Having form on this track adds to his appeal, and he owns three wins and four placings from 10 starts at the track.

That form is tough to overlook, especially against a moderate field.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 4. (17:00) Len Pike 1MW (2100m)

#4 – Long Genes

Long Genes is getting close to posting a win after two placings from his last three starts, including a third placing at Pinjarra.

The five-year-old son of U S Navy Flag is only a two-time winner throughout his career, but he’s much better than that.

He has time to find cover from a wide draw, so that adds to his appeal.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (17:35) Albert Jordan BM66 (1000m)

#8 – Empress of India

The six-year-old mare by Universal Ruler is already a two-time winner this preparation, and she wasn’t far off the win last time out at Belmont.

She loves racing at the track with two wins and five placings, and her statistics over the distance add to her appeal.

Getting in with 55.5kg makes her tough to hold out.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (18:10) Congratulations Grant & Alana Williams 1MW (1400m)

#6 – Essentric Nature

Team Williams looks to win the race named in their honour with Essentric Nature, who is a three-time winner from nine starts.

The five-year-old son of Savabeel ran fourth at Belmont fresh up, and after getting back in the run, he finished off stylishly.

With Pike riding, he should get a good ride, so include in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (18:45) Swan Draught Newmarket (1200m)

#7 – Fast Flicker @ $8.50

Each-way value is with Fast Flicker, who owns nine wins from 20 starts, and that record is tough to overlook.

The six-year-old mare by A Lot is a two-time winner at Belmont, so having form on the track adds to her appeal on Saturday.

Carrying 54kg is another positive, so take the generous odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (19:15) Happy 80th Birthday Bobby McPherson BM66 (1300m)

#4 – Want a Winner

Form is with Want a Winner, who owns four wins from five starts, so there is nothing wrong with that record.

The four-year-old son of Yes Yes Yes is unbeaten in two starts at Belmont, including a one-length win last time out.

Anything close to $3 is a good price.

Stake: 1 Unit
