Belmont racing tips

Race 1. (14:56) Tabtouch Plate (1400m)

#1 – King of Light @ $1.60

Punters get short odds for King of Light, who won by a half-length on debut as a $6 chance.

The odds are much shorter this time around, but he showed a great turn-of-foot to win, which is why there is good market confidence.

He’s a good runner to include in horse racing multi picks.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 2. (15:36) MCA Polytrack BM72 (1400m)

#5 – Sunny Honey @ $3.90

Sunny Honey is nearing a win this preparation after posting four placings and a close-up fourth.

The five-year-old son of Patronize is a three-time winner at Belmont, so getting back to this track won’t do his chance any harm.

Carrying 55.5kg gives him a chance to beat the odds-on favourite.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (16:14) Morley Growers Market Handicap (1200m)

#5 – Yorga Pride @ $2.80

Money has come for Yorga Pride, who owns three wins from four starts and she’s unbeaten from two fresh up starts.

The three-year-old filly by Pride of Dubai also has a win at Belmont, so there isn’t much going against her on Saturday.

Having William Pike riding adds to our confidence, so take the odds.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 4. (17:00) Belmont Classic (2200m)

#6 – Fancy Red @ $2.00

Fancy Red is gunning for her fourth consecutive win, and although the odds aren’t huge, they are likely to firm to an odds-on price.

The three-year-old filly by Sessions owns five wins from nine starts, so there is a lot to like about her overall form.

She likes to settle back and come with a big late run, so the 2200m is right up her alley.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 5. (17:30) Quayclean BM66 (1600m)

#4 – Stylish Lord @ $6.50

Stylish Lord looked good when winning earlier this preparation and he hasn’t been too far away from the prize since.

The four-year-old son of Playing God ran through the line well enough at Bunbury in heavy conditions, which is a good sign.

After opening at $8.50, he has been specked with bookies.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (18:00) Lawn Pride Australia BM66 (1200m)

#13 – Essentric Nature @ $3.10

There has been a strong betting move for Essentric Nature, who owns two fresh up wins, including a win at Bunbury last prep.

The four-year-old son of Savabeel is good enough to handle this field with Pike riding at 55kg, so the odds are worth including in picks.

Barrier four is another positive for a runner that could firm to around $2.40.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 7. (18:30) Glenroy Chaff 1MW (1300m)

#4 – Soldanelle @ $5.50

Soldanelle ended last campaign with two wins and two placings, and she could make a winning resumption.

The six-year-old mare by Siyouni is a two-time fresh up winner, so she likes to hit the ground running, which adds to her appeal.

The $5.50 odds are worth including as a value bet.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (19:07) Drummond Golf 1MW (1300m)

#1 – Simply Thinkin’ @ $4.80

Each-way odds are available for Simply Thinkin’, who could give Pike another win on the Belmont card.

The Adam Durrant-trained mare owns five wins and seven placings from 18 starts, so her record speak for itself.

We expect another good run, and she could firm into favouritism.

Stake: 1.5 Units
