Canterbury racing tips

Race 1. (18:00) Tab Highway C3 (1200m)

#7 – Lady Olenna @ $3.20

Lady Olenna has been an expensive runner to follow this season, but we’re giving her one more chance.

The four-year-old mare by Shalaa owns two wins and two placings from eight starts, so she showed good ability early.

Dropping to 54.5kg is enough to take her close.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 3. (19:00) Toyota Forklifts Maiden (1250m)

#7 – Willingham @ $2.20

The start of the card could belong to the favourites as Willingham is another strong winning hope.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding is getting close to posting a win after running second at Beaumont last time out.

It’s a good form guide, and getting the inside draw should see him control the speed.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (19:30) The Agency Real Estate Maiden (1250m)

#1 – Let’s Go Barbie @ $3.90

Chris Waller lines up Let’s Go Barbie, who own three placings from four starts, and she won’t take long to win.

The four-year-old mare by Yes Yes Yes could continue the recent run of the sire, and getting 3kg off her back is ideal.

She is a strong winning hope in an even betting field.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (20:00) Quayclean BM72 (1550m)

#3 – Apuntar @ $8.00

Value is with Apuntar, who is much better than what he has been showing this preparation.

The four-year-old son of The Mission doesn’t mind the sting out of the surface, and that’s what could see his best form return.

3kg comes off to help with the big weight.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (20:30) Asahi Super Dry BM72 (1900m)

#5 – It’s a Wonder @ $5.50

A bounce back effort is likely for It’s a Wonder, who didn’t fire at Randwick, but that was a tough race.

The five-year-old mare should find this more to her liking, and she runs much better on rain-affected tracks compared to firm surfaces.

That’s enough to take her close against this field.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (21:00) Kia Evening Star BM72 (1100m)

#2 – Cassiel @ $5.50

Owning three wins and four placings is Cassiel, who wasn’t too far away when fifth at Canterbury last start.

The five-year-old son of Harry Angel will need to lump around 60kg, but he is classy enough to handle this field regardless of weight.

He gets another chance to show off his potential.

Stake: 1 Unit
