Sweltering won’t get a better chance to post a maiden win against this field, and her run for second at Flemington last start is an excellent form guide.
The four-year-old mare by Too Darn Hot was only a length behind Verona Rose, who has stakes form, so the form checks out at the top level.
She must be included in all bets on Wednesday, despite being at skinny odds.

Sylph faced some tough opposition last preparation, including running fifth behind Stardom in the Woodlands Classic last start at Scone.
The three-year-old filly by I Am Invincible has been prepared with a trial win at Randwick, and although facing a tough field here, getting an inside draw helps.
We expect her to be fighting out the finish.
Stake: 1 Unit
Big Tiger controlled the speed and gripped on for a win at Rosehill, and he will only be better for the run.
The three-year-old colt by So You Think will head forward again, and having Tim Clark in the saddle is ideal. He’s the best judge of pace when leading, as shown last start.
There is more depth to this field, but he should be right in the mix.
Stake: 2 Units
Punters get each-way odds for Master of Disguise, who finished second at Albury last start, and she could measure up to this level.
The four-year-old mare doesn’t face the toughest midweek field ever, and she could take advantage of it with a good effort.
3kg comes off her back to help with the big weight.
Stake: 1 Unit
Horizons has been scratched a few times over the last week, so we’re hoping she lines up here.
The four-year-old daughter of The Autumn Sun won well earlier this preparation at Kembla Grange, and she comes off a placing at Randwick.
Punters should expect her to roll forward and be tough to stop.
Stake: 1 Unit
Gunning for consecutive wins is Swordplay, who couldn’t have been more impressive when breaking maidens at Newcastle.
She won by 4.8 lengths over 900m, which is tough to do, and it suggested that she’s ready to graduate to this level of racing.
Carrying 54.5kg is ideal, and the each-way odd appeal.
Stake: 2 Units
Cool Storm hasn’t done much wrong throughout her career, including four wins and four placings from 11 starts.
There is nothing wrong with her win rate, and although her most recent win came at Scone, she is quick enough to keep up with them at Canterbury.
Firm ground suits, so snap up the $15 odds.
Stake: 1 Unit
