Caulfield Guineas Form Guide & Tips
(1) Rivellino ($27.00)
He showed a good turn-of-foot as a youngster, but that form hasn’t come to hand this season. We’re prepared to leave him out at the odds.
(2) Wodeton (Best Bet – $4.20)
We liked the way he ran through the line behind Beiwacht, which should be a good form guide for this race.
He has promised to deliver a Group 1 win for some time now, and everything points towards him breaking through for an overdue win.
(3) Vinrock (Best Each Way – $6.50)
Forget he went around at The Valley after bombing the start and drifting to the back of the field. He needs to be on the speed, and he has been aimed for this race all preparation.
Don’t drop him just yet, as he likes Caulfield, and he land on the speed this time around.
(4) Nepotism ($23.00)
He scored a big win last season, but he’s another Sydney runner that hasn’t shown much this time in. That’s concerning, so we can’t have him here.
(5) West of Swindon (Best Roughie – $14.00)
West of Swindon is another runner that should show good barrier speed, and he could keep Vinrock company on the pace.
His win at The Valley was a tough effort, and we think he’s going under the radar in the Caulfield Guineas.
(6) Vega for Luck ($41.00)
Solid efforts this prep with two second placings, but he’s the second-string runner from the Laurie stable. It would take some improvement to see him win.
(7) Highvol ($35.00)
Not the worst runner in the field at $35. His run for fourth last start was solid, and he only needs some luck from a wide draw.
Include him in first four picks for a bit of value.
(8) Navy Pilot ($13.00)
A strong winner at Sandown last time out, and although he hasn’t been facing tough opposition, he could measure up.
A first four hope, who could sneak into trifecta bets.
(9) Autumn Boy ($3.70)
A good winning hope, but the odds are too short for our liking. We would have been happy with something around $5.50 based on his last effort, so he needs to turn that around and produce something much better.
(10) Space Rider ($41.00)
A nice winner fresh up, but only fair in two subsequent runs. Could be too tough for it.
(11) Prestige Ole ($91.00)
Showed good pace last season but has yet to fire this time around. Odds are warranted.
(12) Hillier ($67.00)
Not the worst type going around, but we would prefer to back him in something easier at this stage.
(13) Stay Cosmic ($41.00)
Presents as a Saturday type, but not a Group 1 type. Odds are likely to drift on race day.
(14) Planet Red ($14.00)
Specked at double-figure odds following a good start to his career. Solid enough form, including two wins, so he enters calculations at the price.
(15) Romantic Encounter ($20.00)
Second behind West of Swindon last start, but we don’t think Caulfield will be as suitable. It could pay to follow betting moves with this runner.
(16) Observer ($17.00)
A nice enough type in the making, but this race has come too quickly.
(17) Centu Cavaddi ($31.00)
In the same boat as Observer. Only a two-run type, and we’re prepared to wait a little longer.
(18) Regal Award ($35.00)
Could be struggling to keep up, and the odds are a touch too short.
