CF Orr Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Jimmysstar (Best Bet – $2.00)
He couldn’t have been more impressive when winning at Randwick last start, which is the best form guide for this race.
His run in The Everest was also good, and stretching out to 1400m was always going to benefit him more than most other sprinters.
$2 is short for a Group 1, but he’s the one to beat.
(2) Evaporate (Best Each Way – $5.00)
Punters get each-way odds for Evaporate, who will put himself on the pace and give a good kick.
The Hayes-trained gelding won earlier this prep before posting back-to-back placings behind some nice types, and he should also enjoy 1400m.
The $5 and $2 to place are worth taking.
(3) Bosustow (Best Roughie – $20.00)
We don’t rate most of the double-figure odds’ chances in this race, but Bosustow has a genuine chance to cause an upset.
He comes off a third placing behind Caballus down the Flemington straight, and we expect that form to hold up nicely throughout the spring.
$20 is a fair price from bookmakers.
(4) Pinstriped ($27.00)
He’s not letting down with his usual turn-of-foot this season, which is a concern. The smaller field doesn’t help his chances, hence the lengthening odds.
(5) Angel Capital ($3.00)
A runner with massive potential, and we’re not leaving him out of our CF Orr Stakes picks. He ran well enough in The Everest for sixth, and he has been kept fresh for this race.
We expect him to settle just off the pace, likely ahead of Jimmysstar, and if his turn-of-foot comes out to play, he could beat the favourite.
Late betting moves will be interesting for Angel Capital.
(6) Mighty Ulysses ($91.00)
He runs at massive odds and rightfully so. His form has tapered off badly this season, so we can’t recommend including him in any picks.
(7) Vinrock ($16.00)
Vinrock was set for the Caulfield Guineas, where he ran fourth behind Autumn Boy. His best hope is to settle in front and kick, but he hasn’t been able to find the front after tardy beginnings.
We’re not sure where to place him, but he’s good enough to include in first four picks.
