Coffs Harbour racing tips

Race 1. (12:50) Sharen Philip Maiden (1010m)

#7 – Cool Waters @ $1.65

We’re happy to take the short odds for Cool Waters, who ran second in a trial at Gosford, which should be a good form guide.

The three-year-old filly by Headwater should appreciate the slightly firmer conditions, and that’s why she has been well-backed to win.

Include her in multis before the odds shorten further.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 2. (13:25) Steve Dignam Maiden (1412m)

#7 – Moonlight Diva @ $3.80

We’re backing another debutante, who is a four-year-old mare coming off some solid trial efforts.

The daughter of Puissance de Lune placed at Taree and Grafton, and dropping to 55kg makes her tough to beat against this field.

Barrier three is ideal, so she should make a good debut.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (14:05) Amanda Foley C3 (1010m)

#3 – Dusan @ $3.40

Dusan wasn’t too far away at Murwillumbah last time out, which was a good form reversal after some moderate form.

The five-year-old son of Exosphere owns three wins and five placings from 16 starts, including three wins over the distance.

Getting 2kg off his back could be enough to see him score an overdue win.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:40) Craig Harvey Maiden (1212m)

#6 – Satono Invader @ $2.35

Another debutante with a good chance of winning is Satono Invader, who comes off trial placings at Gosford.

The three-year-old filly only needs to show slight improvement to win this race, and it’s good to see a strong betting push after opening at $3.30.

She comes from the Kris Lees stable, which only adds to our confidence.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (15:15) Ken Alderman C1 (1312m)

#4 – Oakfield Pluto @ $2.70

We’re backing another Lees-trained runner in Oakfield Pluto, who won well on debut at Taree before placing at Port Macquarie.

The four-year-old son of Exceedance was only a short margin behind the winner last start, so there was nothing wrong with that effort.

His odds have drifted, but we’re not concerned by that.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:50) Terry Wilson BM58 (1612m)

#3 – Full Regalia @ $4.50

Full Regalia is gunning for consecutive wins after scoring at Grafton, and that should be a solid form guide for this race.

The five-year-old son of Casino Prince is a two-time winner from 11 starts, so he’s good enough to beat a moderate BM58 field.

Punters get each-way odds, so he’s worth including in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (16:25) Peter Barrett BM74 (1212m)

#3 – Gobbled @ $7.50

Gobbled won well fresh up before taking on harder opposition and running well enough to consider.

The seven-year-old son of Star Witness ran third at Taree last time out, and a repeat of that effort could be good enough to win here.

The odds are generous enough to include as a value bet.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (17:05) Garry Matthews BM58 (808m)

#7 – Queen of a Hand @ $3.60

Queen of a Hand showed solid form last campaign, and she could return from a spell in good order.

The four-year-old mare by All Too Hard won her only start at Coffs Harbour, so getting back to this track makes her tough to beat.

Getting 2kg off her back only helps her cause, so include her in picks.

Stake: 2 Units
