Coolmore Stud Stakes Form Guide & Tips
(1) Beiwacht ($3.10)
We’re not surprised to see him open as the favourite after a big win, but that came over 1400m. We thought he would be heading for 1600m based on that win, which is our big concern.
He’s not being left out of picks, but we’re putting another Godolphin runner on top.
(2) McGaw ($31.00)
Never too far away from the prize, and it won well two back. However, we rate that form slightly below the best in this field.
Bookmakers have big odds available, and that looks about right.
(3) Tentyris (Best Bet – $3.90)
He showed an electric turn-of-foot to win at Caulfield, and he could be the best sprinter in the field.
We can’t see him stretching out to much further, so he’s a pure sprinter, and our top pick to win the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.
Punters get $3.90, which is a fair price from bookmakers.
(4) Tycoon Star ($61.00)
Disappointing last start when given every chance. He’s in the group of runners that could struggle to keep up with the elite types.
(5) Skyhook ($11.00)
Sydney form should hold up nicely in this race, and he hasn’t been too far away this season. We’re happy to include him at $11, and he could sneak under the radar at double-figure odds.
(6) Hidden Motive ($26.00)
An upset winner last start, and this would be another upset. That win came over Beadman, who was very unlucky, and it’s tough to line him up here.
We’re prepared to leave him out at the current odds.
(7) Raging Force (Best Roughie – $20.00)
He was run down by Tentyris, but that doesn’t mean he can’t win the Coolmore Stud Stakes. He’ll likely put himself on the speed, and he could take some running down.
Raging Force is rock-hard fit, and the $20 odds are generous.
(8) Jimmy Recard ($46.00)
His form to start this prep was excellent when posting three consecutive wins. However, he has been found out against harder opposition.
He might be looking for something slightly easier now.
(9) Legacy Bound ($19.00)
The son of Ole Kirk started his career with three wins on the bounce. Beaten on his merits last start, so we’re not sure what to make of that run.
It’s a red-hot field, and we haven’t found room for him on this occasion.
(10) Beadman (Best Each Way – $5.00)
He should have beaten Hidden Motive last start, and we’re not shocked by the $5 odds. We expect him to be right around the mark, and any easing of the surface only helps his chances.
Punters get each-way odds for the colt, who draws towards the outside, and he could come with a big late finish.
(11) Skyglider ($19.00)
Unbeaten after two starts, including a good win last week. Connections are looking to ride the wave of momentum, but this is a big step up.
He’s a nice colt, but this is the deep end, and we don’t think he handles it.
(12) My Gladiola ($12.00)
Drawing barrier one might have ended her chances of winning. She loves getting back and coming with a big late run out wide, so traffic issues could stop that from happening.
