Cranbourne racing tips

Race 1. (13:00) Ladbrokes Top Maiden (1000m)

#9 – Comradeship @ $4.40

Comradeship comes off a jumpout win at Cranbourne, which is always a good form guide for this level of racing.

The three-year-old son of Ocean Park opened at $5.50 before firming into $4.40, and the breeding is there. He is a half to Snapdancer, so the breeding checks out.

He’s worth including in selections at the current odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 2. (13:30) Renew Your Southside Membership Maiden (1400m)

#12 – Expulsion @ $2.40

Expulsion is getting close to a victory after finishing second last time out at Sandown, and we’re not surprised by the money coming for her.

The three-year-old daughter of Bivouac gets all favours off an inside draw and a light weight, so there are no excuses this time around.

Take the $2.30 available before it shortens on race day.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 3. (14:00) Pinker Pinker Tickets on Sale Maiden (1600m)

#7 – Wondering Spirit @ $4.80

Wondering Spirit showed some ability during his first preparation, including consecutive third placings at Pakenham.

The four-year-old son of Ribchester wasn’t far away at Ballarat last time out, and anything around that effort should be good enough.

There should be solid money for him on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (14:30) Vale Robbie Laing Maiden (1200m)

#7 – Lovecats @ $4.40

Running at each-way odds is Lovecats, who finished fifth on debut at The Valley before spelling.

Running six lengths behind the winner didn’t look like a good run, but there was good backing for her, so she should be right around the mark.

She comes off two jumpout wins, so she is ready to show her best.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (15:00) Vale Peta Tait C1 (1200m)

#5 – Empire of Pain @ $5.00

Empire of Pain scored a good win to break maidens at Cranbourne last preparation, which came by 4.3 lengths.

The four-year-old mare by Justify paid $6.50 when winning, so punters still get value odds despite that win being effortless.

It came over 1500m, but she shouldn’t be worried by the 1200m.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (15:30) RMBL Investments Rising Stars BM64 (1400m)

#11 – Angel of the Sea @ $6.50

Angel of the Sea ran well for second two back at Pakenham, and a repeat of that effort should be enough to take her close.

The four-year-old mare by Harry Angel doesn’t mind the sting out of the track, so conditions should be perfect.

Take the $6.50 odds in an even betting race.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 7. (16:00) A Touch of Glass Group BM64 (1600m)

#3 – Emmcee @ $5.50

Emmcee was too good for them last time out at Pakenham when scoring by 3.3 lengths, which is the best form guide for this race.

The four-year-old son of Microphone owns a win and three placings from five starts, so it has been a good start to his career.

Barrier 15 hurts, but that’s the only negative.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (16:30) Settlers Run BM64 (1000m)

#13 – Star Rapper @ $4.20

Star Rapper showed good speed when winning fresh up at Wangaratta before placing last time out at Ballarat.

The five-year-old son of Zoustar has yet to finish worse than second, so there isn’t a reason to jump off her back on Friday.

Take the odds before money comes for him on race day.

Stake: 2 Units
