Cranbourne racing tips

Race 1. (18:15) Ladbrokes Popular SRM BM66 (1600m)

#4 – Sotomayor @ $4.40

Punters get each-way odds for Sotomayor, who is running well after posting back-to-back wins.

The four-year-old son of Highland Reel won at Werribee before scoring at Wangaratta, and that form is good enough to compete at this level.

There isn’t much between this field, so he’s a value chance.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 2. (18:45) Minuteman Press Narre Warren BM78 (1200m)

#4 – Capper Thirtynine @ $4.40

We’re giving Capper Thirtynine another chance after some tough recent efforts, including a run at Caulfield behind Gallant Son.

Gallant Son lines up at Group 1 level on Saturday, so this is a much easier target, and the five-year-old won his only start at Cranbourne.

Getting the inside draw should be enough to take him close.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 3. (19:15) ACW Facility Services Handicap (1000m)

#1 – Dirty Harry @ $3.60

Dirty Harry has a good chance of making a winning debut after running well in a recent jumpout at Werribee.

The two-year-old son of Dirty Work is bred to show early speed, and they often start well from the Hayes stable.

Money has come for him, which is a good sign.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (19:45) Browns Sawdust & Shavings BM78 (1000m)

#4 – Always Enuff @ $3.60

The four-year-old mare owns five wins from 16 starts, including an impressive win at Cranbourne three starts back.

She has since had two runs at Flemington and Caulfield behind strong types, and coming back to this grade should help.

She has been well-backed to score, which isn’t surprising.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (20:15) Springvale RSL BM64 (1000m)

#4 – Snapshot @ $4.00

Looking to stay unbeaten is Snapshot, who won at Albury and Swan Hill over short distances, and rising to 1000m shouldn’t be an issue.

The three-year-old filly by Holler has a good set of wheels, and we expect her to settle on the speed and give a good kick.

Punters get each-way odds to snap up.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (20:45) Enterprise Stationers Office BM70 (1600m)

#1 – Stage ‘N’ Screen @ $2.50

Stage ‘N’ Screen has been all around the mark this season, including a win and three placings this preparation.

The Mark Walker-trained mare is a three-time winner overall, and her recent win at Sandown is a good form guide for this race.

She gets 2kg off her back, which is enough to take her close.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (21:15) Rhino the Wrecker BM70 (2025m)

#6 – The Western Front @ $3.30

The Western Front has a stack of ability, and after two placings this campaign, it’s about time he scored a win.

He owns three wins and three placings from 12 starts, and his turn-of-foot is better than most horses running in this grade.

We expect the $3.30 odds to firm considerably on race night.

Stake: 2.5 Units
