Doomben racing tips

Race 1. (12:03) Teddy Bears Picnic Hanidcap (1110m)

#9 – Sweet Hesitation @ $6.00

Sweet Hesitation was too good for them at Eagle Farm last time out, and she’s good enough to handle the rise in class.

The two-year-old filly by Dubois should get all favours in the run from barrier four, and she should slot into an ideal position.

Take the $6 odds before money comes for her on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 2. (12:38) Eagle Farm 160 Years BM85 (1615m)

#4 – Nana’s Wish @ $3.40

Nana’s Wish comes off two impressive wins at Canterbury and Warwick Farm, so that form is good enough for this level of racing.

The five-year-old mare by Belardo is a five-time winner overall and many of those wins have come on soft tracks.

After opening at $5, strong money has come for her throughout the week.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 3. (13:13) Mekka Raceday BM70 (1615m)

#14 – Jillaroo @ $5.50

Jillaroo was disappointing last time out when struggling at Doomben, but she had excuses when pulling up with thumps.

She has seemingly overcome those issues, and her form prior included a win at Doomben. She is a former American runner with upside, and racing in Queensland is ideal.

Look for her to push forward and be right in the thick of the finish.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (13:48) BRC Community Venues Handicap (1615m)

#10 – Bollinger Miss @ $6.50

Bollinger Miss is better than her recent form suggests, and she runs her best races at Doomben with a win and a placing.

The three-year-old daughter of Zousain is better on good tracks, but it’s not too wet for Saturday’s race, so it’s not a negative.

Dropping in weight works in her favour.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (14:23) Moreton Hire C3 (1200m)

#14 – Lead Me On @ $4.40

Lead Me On was too quick for them at Eagle Farm last time out, and there is no reason why he can’t repeat that effort on Saturday.

The Chris Anderson-trained son of Brutal is bred to be better than average, and he’s another runner that doesn’t mind the sting out of the ground.

Getting 2kg off his back should take him close.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 6. (15:02) U&U Recruitment BM78 (2200m)

#9 – Ahuriri @ $14.00

Punters get value odds with Ahuriri, who scored an overdue win at Canterbury three starts back before struggling a touch in Sydney.

The four-year-old mare by Almanzor is better suited to racing in Queensland, and she is going under the radar for this race.

Take the $14 odds from bookmakers as a value pick.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 7. (15:42) XXXX Gold BM85 (1350m)

#9 – Castillian @ $4.50

Gunning for three consecutive wins is Castillian, who scored at Doomben before winning at Ipswich last time out.

The five-year-old son of Per Incanto is bred to win races against this company, so we’re happy to include her in our picks.

Angela Jones is loving life, so back her with confidence.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:18) Sky Racing Handicap (1200m)

#1 – Metalart @ $1.90

Boasting eight wins from 15 starts is Metalart, who is having an excellent preparation after scoring at Eagle Farm last time out.

The Kelly Schweida-trained is a four-time winner at Doomben, so he loves the track, and punters get fair odds from bookmakers.

2kg comes off his back to help with the big weight.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 9. (16:50) Ladbrokes Odds Surge Handicap (1350m)

#2 – Savour the Dream @ $3.60

Savour the Dream resumes after showing good form last campaign, and the three-year-old has yet to finish worse than third at Doomben.

He owns two wins and three placings at the track, so we’re not surprised to see his form firm after opening at $4.20.

His recent trial win put the writing on the wall, so include him in picks.

Stake: 2 Units
