Doomben racing tips

Race 1. (11:59) Racecourse Village Maiden (1110m)

#1 – Brazen Act

Brazen Act has been threatening to win a race for some time now, and we’re happy to give him another chance.

The three-year-old son of Brazen Beau owns eight placings from 11 starts, so he has been consistent throughout his career.

Give him another chance and hope for odds around $3.50.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 2. (12:33) Teddy Bears Picnic Maiden (1200m)

#12 – Reconcilliate

Reconcilliate is on debut for Tony Gollan, and they typically start well for one of the best stables in Queensland.

The two-year-old filly by Invader comes off a trial placing at Gold Coast, which should have her ready to fire on debut.

Emily Lang comes off a massive season, so put her on top.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (13:08) Souths Sports Club Maiden (1350m)

#2 – Imperial Red

Looking to go one better than his most recent effort is Imperial Red, who finished second at Beaudesert.

That’s not always the best form guide for racing at Doomben, but he looks to have enough ability to handle this field.

Barrier five is ideal, so we’re happy to include him in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (13:43) Mekka Raceday C3 (1350m)

#6 – Barello

Barello looks to cap off consecutive placings with a win having placed at Mackay at his last two races.

The four-year-old son of Xtravagant owns two wins and two placings from 11 starts, so he hasn’t been too far away from the mark.

Getting the inside draw with a light weight helps.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (14:18) Country Music C1 (2060m)

#3 – Linas Reel

Linas Reel got off the mark with a good win at Ipswich, and it was only a matter of time before he scored a breakthrough win.

He had been running in Victoria behind some nice enough types, so facing easier opposition in Queensland is a big help.

Barrier 15 hurts, but he has time to find cover and go close.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 6. (14:53) XXXX Gold C5 (1660m)

#1 – National Choice

National Choice showed good improvement last time out at Doomben, which is the best form guide for this race.

The seven-year-old son of Snitzel is a five-time winner, and he runs his best races at Doomben with a win and two placings.

Getting 3kg off his back is enough to see him win.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (15:28) Sky Racing BM70 (1200m)

#10 – Board Member

Board Member showed good pace last preparation when scoring three consecutive wins, and she has been threatening to win this preparation.

The four-year-old mare by Capitalist has yet to win at Doomben in two starts, but it’s only a matter of time before she scores here.

It’s not easy from the draw, but she’s worth backing.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (16:03) Ladbrokes Odds Surge Handicap (1350m)

#2 – Savour the Dream

Savour the Dream didn’t fire at Flemington and Rosehill last prep, but his form prior was good enough to win this race.

It was meant to be run on Saturday, and although it’s not ideal for any runner in the field, he should handle the situation better than most.

He’s classy at best, so include him in picks.

Stake: 3 Units

Race 9. (16:38) Ladbrokes Blackbook C3 (1350m)

#5 – Nightcapped

Nightcapped looked good when winning at Sunshine Coast three back, and she hasn’t been too far away from the prize since.

The four-year-old mare is always around the mark, and getting the inside draw with Lang riding only helps her chances.

We’re happy to include her in our picks.

Stake: 1 Unit
