Doomben racing tips

Race 1. (13:13) Racecourse Village BM78 (1600m)

#7 – Sarrismo @ $2.35

Sarrismo has yet to finish worse than third from seven starts, including three wins and four placings.

The four-year-old son of I Am Invincible won at Warwick Farm last time out before scoring a trial win at Randwick, which was used to boost his fitness.

We’re happy to take $2.35 for a nice type in the making.

Stake: 2.5 Units

Race 2. (13:48) The Gibson Handicap (1600m)

#4 – Demon Darb @ $2.80

There isn’t much covering this field top to bottom, and Demon Darb has a good chance to win.

The six-year-old son of Pierro owns seven wins and eight placings from 34 starts, and his record at Doomben is good enough to beat this field.

Carrying 54.5kg is enough to take him close.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (14:23) Ladbrokes Racing Extras in Multis C3 (1350m)

#15 – Spaceballs @ $3.80

Spaceballs won well at Hawkesbury two starts back before finishing second at Newcastle last time out.

The four-year-old mare by Dundeel will need some luck from the wide barrier, but she is a classy mare for this level of racing.

Take the $3.80 odds before they firm on race day.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (14:58) Become a BRC Member BM78 (1200m)

#6 – First Mission @ $3.30

First Mission had to settle for second last time out at Gold Coast, but we fancy his chances of going one better on Saturday.

The four-year-old son of Snitzel owns three wins and six placings from 12 starts, including a win at Doomben last preparation.

Money has come for him to score, which isn’t surprising.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 5. (15:33) XXXX Handicap (2000m)

#1 – Glory Daze @ $7.00

Punters get each-way value for Glory Daze, who finished second at Gold Coast in a tough race last time out.

The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding has yet to race at Doomben, but he loves the distance, and his best form in Sydney is easily competitive against this field.

2kg comes off his back to help with the weight, which is a bonus.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (16:08) Stradbroke Season on Sale Now BM70 (2200m)

#13 – Prochester @ $3.50

Prochester showed good form in Victoria before coming to Queensland, where he produced a win at Eagle Farm two starts back.

The four-year-old hit the line well when fourth last time out, and he just got too far off the pace, so it was a tidy effort.

He is a good bet to get back to winning form.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (16:47) Moreton Hire Handicap (1350m)

#10 – Special Artist @ $13.00

Boasting two wins from his last three starts is Special Artist, who is having his first start for the Kelly Schweida stable.

The three-year-old son of Trapeze Artist won well in January at Eagle Farm, and his recent trial at Doomben was encouraging.

He’s a good value bet at double-figure odds.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 8. (17:27) Sky Racing BM85 (1350m)

#9 – Thinkhardandfast @ $6.00

Thinkhardandfast is a nice type in the making after scoring twice to end her last preparation, and she has bigger targets in mind.

The five-year-old daughter of So You Think owns four wins and seven placings from 14 starts, so she has been supremely consistent, and punters have cashed in.

Connections could have fun with this mare, and she’s an excellent bet at the odds.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 9. (18:10) Ladbrokes Popular SRM BM78 (1200m)

#3 – Dominant Darcy @ $2.20

Dominant Darcy is loving life this preparation with four wins from five starts, and she is a nice type in the making.

The four-year-old daughter of Zousain showed toughness to win at Gold Coast last start, and three of her wins have come at Doomben.

59.5kg is a leveler, but she is worth backing.

Stake: 2 Units
