Eagle Farm racing tips

Race 1. (11:38) Become a BRC Member BM85 (1600m)

#3 – Chica Mojito @ $4.20

Chica Mojito has been threatening to win races this preparation after posting three placings.

The Chris Waller-trained mare is only a one-time winner, but she has more upside than most in this field, so we’re happy to back her.

Getting the inside draw could be enough to see her get the job done.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (12:13) U&U Recruitment C3 (1400m)

#11 – Velozes @ $6.50

Velozes was too good for them at Eagle Farm last time out, and we’re backing to her to upset the odds-on favourite.

The five-year-old mare by I Am Invincible doesn’t often do much wrong this far into her campaign, so she’s rock-hard fit and ready to win again.

The odds are worth including in horse racing picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (12:48) Trackside with Ricky Ponting BM70 (1200m)

#13 – Berezka @ $2.15

Berezka is nearing a win after multiple placings this preparation, including a second placing at Eagle Farm last time out.

The four-year-old mare by Xtravagant owns a win and four placings from nine starts, and it’s only the wide barrier draw going against her.

However, her class is enough to take her close at short odds.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 4. (13:23) Country Music BM78 (1400m)

#5 – Caspernova @ $2.80

Caspernova couldn’t quite keep his consistent form alive last time out when running fifth, but he could get back to winning form.

The five-year-old son of Spirit of Boom is a four-time winner, so he has ability to win races, and this isn’t an overly deep field.

His opening odds have firmed, which is a good sign.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (13:58) Sky Racing BM78 (2400m)

#5 – Bengal Boy @ $9.00

Bengal Boy showed good toughness two back when running at Doomben, and he wasn’t all that far away from the prize last time out.

The six-year-old son of Dundeel is a past winner over the distance, and rising from 2200m to 2400m should only help his chances.

He will get a soft run in transit this time, so put him on top.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (14:33) Mekka Raceday Handicap (1000m)

#5 – Boomshanka @ $3.70

Boomshanka wasn’t far away against a tough field last time out at Doomben, and getting into this race with 54.5kg on her back is ideal.

The three-year-old filly by Spirit of Boom opened at $4.60 before shortening throughout the week, and it shouldn’t take her long to win.

Take the odds before more money comes for her on race day.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (15:12) XXXX Handicap (1400m)

#7 – Sailor’s Secret @ $4.00

Sailor’s Secret is gunning for three consecutive wins after scoring twice at Gold Coast, and that form is good enough to handle racing at Eagle Farm.

The six-year-old son of Better than Ready is a two-time winner at the track and a three-time winner over the distance, so the stats check out.

Getting in with 54kg makes him tough to hold out.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (15:48) Spring Carnival on Sale Now 0MW (1200m)

#7 – About to Explode @ $5.50

About to Explode would be at shorter odds had he drawn a good barrier, but we’re still happy to include him in our horse racing picks.

The five-year-old son of Spirit of Boom is unbeaten in two starts at Eagle Farm, and being from the Tony Gollan stable is ideal.

He’s another runner getting in with a light weight, so put him on top.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 9. (16:27) Ladbrokes BM78 (1000m)

#2 – Flying Destiny @ $5.50

Flying Destiny ran well two back at Rosehill when finishing second, and something close to that form is good enough.

The six-year-old son of Flying Artie is a five-time winner overall, and getting 3kg off his back should be enough to see him run well.

It’s an open betting field, so the $5.50 odds available are generous.

Stake: 1 Unit
