Eagle Farm racing tips

Race 1. (11:58) Mekka Raceday Maiden (1000m)

#2 – Special Artist

Special Artist ran on well for second on debut at Sunshine Coast, which is an ideal form guide for this race.

The Robert Heathcote-trained two-year-old ran at $41 odds on that occasion, and the odds will be much shorter this time around.

Look for a big race on Wednesday.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 2. (12:33) Become a BRC Member Maiden (1000m)

#9 – Sweet Hesitation

Sweet Hesitation wasn’t far away on debut at Toowoomba before spelling, and although there is more depth to this field, she has upside.

She is trained by Matt Currie, so she’s in good hands, and the two-year-old comes off a trial win and placing.

Ryan Maloney riding is a good sign for punters.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 3. (13:08) Gallopers Sports Club Maiden (1000m)

#2 – Mr Playtime

Mr Playtime has been a model of consistency throughout his career, including four starts for four placings.

The three-year-old colt by Kobayashi doesn’t need to improve much to beat this field, and getting weight off his back is a bonus.

Look for each-way odds on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 4. (13:43) QCF Charity C2 (1000m)

#8 – Miss Personality

Miss Personality kicked off her last preparation with a win at Beaumont, and she’s good enough to win again.

The Barry Lockwood-trained mare owns two wins from five starts, and dropping to 54kg should make her tough to beat.

Barrier four is ideal and she gets a senior rider in the saddle.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 5. (14:18) Ladbrokes Bet Ticker BM78 (1845m)

#1 – Grinzinger Knight

Gunning for consecutive wins is Grinzinger Knight, who scored by a half-length at Doomben as an outsider.

The six-year-old has yet to fire in five attempts at Eagle Farm, but he is a nine-time winner overall, and he could take advantage of this field.

Look for him to settle handy and kick well.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 6. (14:53) Eagle Farm 160 Years BM70 (1300m)

#10 – November Sun

November Sun has made a positive start to her career with a win and three placings from five starts, and she could get back to winning form.

The Matthew Dunn-trained filly comes off consecutive placings at Doomben, and she also owns a placing at Eagle Farm.

54.5kg on her back should be enough to take her close.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (15:28) XXXX Gold C5 (1200m)

#2 – Caspernova

Caspernova owns four wins and four placings from 10 starts, so punters always get a good sight with the four-year-old gelding.

The son of Spirit of Boom has two wins at Eagle Farm and all four wins over the distance, so he’s one of the best statistical bets of the day.

We expect a market push on race day.

Stake: 4 Units

Race 8. (16:03) Sky Racing BM68 (1600m)

#12 – Zaher

Zaher must contend with a wide draw, like many of the top picks, but he has enough ability to overcome it.

The five-year-old son of Priosir owns two placings from three starts this campaign, including a last-start second placing at Doomben.

He needs luck, but he’s worth including in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 9. (16:35) Ladbrokes Quick Multi C1 (1400m)

#4 – First Man

Seeking back-to-back wins is First Man, who capped off three consecutive second placings with a win at Gold Coast in May.

The three-year-old has finished out of the money only twice from eight starts, and he should be right around the mark again.

Anything around $4 is a good price.

Stake: 1.5 Units
