Geelong racing tips
—
Race 1. (13:00) Geelong Taxi Network Maiden (1212m)
#3 – Green Spaces @ $3.90
Green Spaces ran fifth on debut at The Valley before spelling, and he should be better for the spell under his belt.
The two-year-old colt by Street Boss didn’t have all favours in the run, and his recent jumpouts at Flemington have been sound.
Barrier three is ideal, so put him on top.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 2. (13:35) Recycle4change Maiden (1212m)
#1 – Bakersbend @ $2.00
Bakersbend is nearing a win after consecutive placings to start his career, and we’re not surprised by the money coming for him.
The three-year-old son of Artie Schiller comes off a second placing at Sandown as a $12 chance, and rising slightly in distance to 1212m only helps.
Having a strong rider in Dean Yendall in the saddle adds to his chances.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 3. (14:10) Ritchie Bros Auctioneers Maiden (1212m)
#5 – Storm Capital @ $5.50
Storm Capital didn’t fire on debut at Geelong, but that came in heavy conditions, and he was better last time out at Pakenham.
The five-year-old is a late starter, but he got too far back last before hitting the line impressively, which bodes well for his future.
There has been support at each-way odds, so include him in picks.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 4. (14:45) Geelong Taxi Network BM64 (1112m)
#3 – Tiz Time @ $3.20
Tiz Time has been given one start every campaign, but that formula has worked so far with four starts for two wins and a placing.
The four-year-old daughter of Cable Bay didn’t fire at Sale last start in October, but her form prior included wins at Werribee and Pakenham.
Barrier four is ideal, and she has every chance of finishing over the top.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (15:20) Ladbrokes Owners Bonus Maiden (1512m)
#14 – Dancing Dolly @ $1.80
Dancing Dolly is ready to win a race after five consecutive placings, including a third placing at Cranbourne last time out.
The three-year-old daughter of Ace High runs at short odds for a reason, and those odds could continue to firm on race day.
She’s one of the better bets on the card, so include her in multis.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 6. (15:55) Roderick Insurance Brokers BM64 (1512m)
#2 – Quantum Impact @ $3.60
Quantum Impact is a former Hong Kong runner who is fitter for two Australian outings, including a third at Mornington last start.
The five-year-old son of Invincible Spirit was under a length from the winner, so something close to that is good enough.
Blake Shinn rides, which adds to our confidence.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 7. (16:30) Recycle4change BM70 (1312m)
#1 – Snaffles @ $3.50
Snaffles is another former Hong Kong runner with 15 starts for two wins and four placings, which is good form for midweek racing at Geelong.
The six-year-old ran second behind Ensued in 2023, which is an excellent form guide, and although he hasn’t raced for 19 months, he should hit the ground running.
It always pays to follow the HK runners, so take the odds.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 8. (17:05) Geelong Taxi Network BM64 (1715m)
#10 – Naina @ $3.70
Naina hasn’t made the most consistent start to her career, but she looked good winning fresh up at Kyneton.
She also ran second at Sandown last time out behind a nice type in the making, so the form should check out nicely.
Getting the inside draw is ideal, and the odds could shorten on race day.
Stake: 1 Unit
