Race 1. (12:33) BBC Digital and Canon BM78 (2200m)
#4 – The Right Way @ $5.00
The Right Way hasn’t been far off the mark this preparation with three placings, and he’s worth giving another chance.
He is a six-time winner from 23 starts, and his best form comes on good tracks, so he should get conditions to suit.
Getting 1.5kg off his back could take him close.
Stake: 1 Unit
Race 2. (13:08) Travis Schultz & Partners BM85 (1200m)
#2 – Metalart @ $3.40
Metalart ended last campaign with consecutive wins at Eagle Farm and Sunshine Coast, and he’s the one to beat in this race.
The four-year-old son of Better than Ready owns six wins and three placings from 10 starts, with four wins coming over the distance.
Barrier three is ideal, so he’s one of our best picks of the day.
Stake: 4 Units
Race 3. (13:43) Attwood Marshall Lawyers Silk Stocking (1400m)
#11 – Floozie @ $2.40
Floozie has been has looked good with consecutive wins this preparation, and she only needs luck from a wide barrier.
The four-year-old son of Zoustar won by 2.5 lengths as a $1.45 chance last time out, so the better odds are worth taking.
Getting in with 53kg makes her awfully tough to beat.
Stake: 2.5 Units
Race 4. (14:18) Australian Turf Club Trophy (1200m)
#12 – Need Some Luck @ $4.50
Need Some Luck has been in hot form with three consecutive wins at Warwick Farm, Rosehill, and Randwick.
He’s a smart customer, boasting five wins and five placings from 11 starts, and getting in with 54kg makes him tough to beat
It’s a hot field, but he has more upside than most.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 5. (14:53) Tab Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m)
#3 – Beadman @ $1.85
Beadman opened as the odds-on favourite following a two-length win at Newcastle last time out.
The two-year-old colt by Snitzel paid $1.35 last time out, and he looks set to rise through the grades, especially with James McDonald riding.
It could pay to take the odds before more money comes for him.
Stake: 3 Units
Race 6. (15:32) Brandon’s Electrical Gold Coast Guineas (1200m)
#2 – Emirate @ $4.40
Emirate looks to make a winning return to the races following fifths behind Traffic Warden and Broadsiding.
That form is tough to overlook, and although his recent trials were average, he wasn’t asked for much in the run.
McDonald rides, and the each-way odds are worth taking.
Stake: 1.5 Units
Race 7. (16:08) Tab A.D. Hollindale Stakes (1800m)
#2 – Buckaroo @ $3.20
Buckaroo was the favourite for the 2024 Melbourne Cup, and after two runs this prep, he should be fit and ready to fire.
He didn’t have all favours last time out, but he is being taken to Queensland to regain his winning form, and he has class on his side.
It’s a tough field, but the money is starting to come thick and fast.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 8. (16:55) Certis Security Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m)
#5 – Meridiana @ $6.00
Meridiana won on debut at Randwick before finishing close-up at Randwick and Eagle Farm.
The three-year-old filly hit the line nicely last time out, and she’s being targeted for bigger and longer races during the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
She’s a nice type in the making and the odds are generous.
Stake: 2 Units
Race 9. (17:30) XXXX Bat out of Hell Quality (1000m)
#2 – Wanda Rox @ $3.50
Wanda Rox is a short course specialist with nine starts for five wins and four placings over the distance.
The five-year-old mare by Wandjina is a 10-time winner overall, and they’ll go quickly in this race, which suits her perfectly.
Barrier four is another positive, so take the $3.50 before the odds drop.
