Golden Rose Form Guide & Tips
(1) Beiwacht (Best Roughie – $9.00)
It was a good effort from Beiwacht to finish second behind Tempted last time out, and he’s good enough to turn the tables.
The Godolphin runner will only be fitter with two runs under his belt this campaign, and he’s one of the more powerful types in the Golden Rose.
He can’t be left out at the generous odds.
(2) Nepotism ($15.00)
We didn’t see the same Nepotism that won at Randwick two back last start. It was a disappointing effort, and the odds suggest he’ll need more time.
It’s a tough field, so wait for a better opportunity to score with Nepotism.
(3) Skyhook ($5.50)
The colt comes off a third behind Tempted, and being a two-time winner at Rosehill only helps his chances.
He looked good when winning fresh up, and if he’s anywhere near his best, he could finish over the top of them late.
We’re not leaving him out of our Golden Rose picks.
(4) Wodeton ($5.00)
He’s not the easiest runner to follow, but we would hate to jump off his back when he finally wins.
The well-bred and expensive colt is only a one-time winner, but he has Golden Slipper form, and he’s never too far away from the prize.
From the inside draw, he should settle on the speed, which could prove the winning of the race. Include him in picks at each-way odds.
(5) State Visit ($51.00)
A consistent type, but perhaps a touch below the best in this race. We would prefer to wait for something easier.
(6) Rivellino ($35.00)
His turn-of-foot is impressive, but his best form came in restricted entry races. The opposition here are the real deal, and as the odds suggest, he could struggle to find his best.
(7) Autumn Boy (Best Each Way – $5.50)
The new boy on the scene, and although beaten by Sixties last start at Rosehill, it was an excellent run in defeat.
He was warming up late to finish second, and the colt by The Autumn Sun clearly needed the run for his fitness levels.
He’s an interesting type, and we’re happy to be on his back.
(8) Sixties ($16.00)
Led and kicked clear to beat Autumn Boy last start. He’s unlikely to get a similar run this time around, and he could be found wanting over the final 200m.
(9) Tempted (Best Bet – $2.90)
She’s the only filly in the field and she’s the one to beat. Her resuming run at Rosehill was a big win, and she won’t mind the rise in distance.
She owns four wins from seven starts, and she has the potential to measure up against the boys, as she showed last start.
Take the $2.90 before money comes for her on race day.
