Goulburn racing tips

Race 1. (12:20) Swiftwood Tiles & Bathrooms Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Manwari

Manwari hasn’t been too far away from the prize this preparation, and he shouldn’t be worried by the wet track.

The four-year-old son of Menari ran third two back, which was his third placing from eight starts. That’s a solid enough form guide for this level of racing.

Punters should get each-way odds on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 2. (12:55) Rec & Shec Equine Centres BM66 (1200m)

#9 – Everlasting Stars

Everlasting Stars is already a two-time winner this preparation, and she doesn’t have much of a field to beat here.

The six-year-old mare won at Goulburn and Warren, and she was considered good enough to race at Rosehill two back.

This level of opposition suits, so put her in picks.

Stake: 1 Unit

Race 3. (13:30) Goulburn Produce C1 (1400m)

#2 – Omnic

Ciaron Maher lines up Omnic, who owns a win and five placings from 11 starts, which is a solid enough record for this level of racing.

The four-year-old son of Proisir won at Newcastle last preparation, and he wasn’t far away when fifth at Gosford last time out.

Getting the inside draw with weight off his back should be enough to take him close.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 4. (14:05) Kirk’s Bridge Farm Guy Walter C3 (1300m)

#6 – Mamushka

Mamushka started her career with back-to-back wins at Goulburn and Gosford, which is good enough form for this race.

The mare by Capitalist wasn’t too far away when fifth at Wyong last start, and she has been primed with a trial win at Randwick.

She only needs luck from a wide barrier to figure in the finish.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 5. (14:41) Campbell Petroleum C2 (1600m)

#1 – Samurai

The five-year-old showed good form in Victoria before coming to Goulburn last start and running sixth. However, he ran home well enough to keep backing him.

The son of Saxon Warrior needs to carry a big weight to victory, but he has enough class on his side to get back to winning form.

Punters could get each-way odds, so include him in picks.

Stake: 1.5 Units

Race 6. (15:20) Goulburn Express Freight Maiden (1400m)

#3 – Above the Law

Looking to improve on a second placing on debut is Above the Law, who was only a half-length away at Kembla Grange.

The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding had solid betting support on that occasion, and he should go forward and be tough to run down.

We expect shortening odds on race day.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 7. (16:00) Goulburn Cup (1400m)

#3 – War Eternal @ $5.50

War Eternal was too good for a good field at Rosehill when beating Birdman, and that form bodes well for the Goulburn Cup.

The seven-year-old son of Pierro loves racing in heavy conditions with three wins and three placings from 11 attempts.

Punters get each-way odds to enjoy.

Stake: 2 Units

Race 8. (16:40) Pat Murphy Racing BM66 (1600m)

#4 – Taytay Bay

Boasting four wins from 20 starts is Taytay Bay, who won three back at Nowra before finishing second last time out.

Something close to that form is good enough and getting 1.5kg off his back could be enough to turn the tables in his favour.

We expect odds around $5.50 on race day.

Stake: 1 Unit
